Grand Festival 2007 Information Center

Ok we have an information center for the soon-to-be-launched Grand Festival of 2007.

Once the May and June contests are tied up, then we can begin. This years Festival is much bigger and much more contest orientated. Now we've hosted over 20 contests in ASB since they begun so obviously we have to make the selection process a bit more fair.

There is going to be a maximum of 18 entrants over 6 rounds. Now I'm not sure if we will GET 18 entrants but I encourage anybody who has a contest ribbon (from ANY official contest, not just ones since the last Grand Festival) to enter as they're good fun!


Details will be kept closely guarded until the official launch but expect different appeal sections than the previous years!


This will be reopened when the Festival starts.

Ok then the 07 GF has begun!

The rounds work like this


We begin with....well, however many sign up by the deadline (which is quite a leniant one to give everyone time). I'm guessing about 16 people in Round One.

12 will make it to Round Two.

8 will make it to Round Three.

4 will make it to Round Four.

And 2 will go on to the finals!

Details about each round will remain secret until the round is revealled. I won't give all the information for R1 until we have all the signups. I'm giving up to 14 days for everyone to signup.



I'll also need 2 glamorous assistants to help me judge! Any approved contest judge is eligible!

Meh let's just start!

The 9 competetors in the 2007 Grand Festival ARE:

Since we've got fewer than I expected, it'll run a little differently. I'm also doing a different format which builds on the elimination round element.

The nine of you are going to compete in 5 different rounds, involving different appeals, different rules and strategies. For each round you get a score out of 20 meaning, by the end of the five rounds, everyone has a total score out of 100 points.

The four highest scores are put through to the semi-finals. The winners of the semi-finals will then go into the finals for the cup. Both these rounds will be battles but will be limited to the number of rounds.

This is a different set-up for the Grand Festival; you've all worked hard or relied on put-luck to get here so it seems only right that you get to be in the whole thing! This also means if you do screw up an appeal you can make it up in the other rounds! I think it's also a better setup.

I am the sole judge! I'll probably give myself 5 points for doing this.

PRIZES

1st place: 8 points and a spangly trophy (I'm hoping to get Bulbasaur4 to design our ribbons/trophies so they look less pitiful and crap than my attempts)

2nd place: 4 points and maybe a spangly trophy


Refs: for the semi-finals and finals we need refs. I'll give more information at the time.

This is after 2 rounds of the Grand Festival so all the scores are out of 40.


Grey: 18 + 19 = 37

Ultimate Charizard: 17 + 20 = 37

Round 3 deals with Double Appeals; these have been seen in quite a few contests. I imagine some of the competetors will have more trouble than others. The R3 topic is in the B&T forum so please post there ASAP so the Festival can run smoothly.

After 5 Appeal Stages, the two people with the highest score /100 will go on to the finals. We initially anticipated 2 battle stages but that is not the case now. So even more reason to put 100% into the next 3 stages!
