A dumpster to the side of the building, a few parked cars, and a few bystanders heading to their cars can be seen. I'm sitting on a car--so if the owner comes out, lemme know.

It looks like Dr McNinja is ready, and so he gets ready to throw out (coin toss-Ninja was Head, B4 was Tails, got Heads)

To start this thing off, I choose Elingana, my Dratini as my first pokemon!

Let's make things interesting... I'll choose Fenrir (M) !!

Alright, well this sure is an interesting setting!

Since we're attacking first, let's try to set the pace of this battle Fenny! First, aim carefully and spew a Toxic all over that little dragon! Then let's prepare to be evasive to avoid any costly attacks with Agility! Then follow up with a Crunch attack! If at anytime Dratini seems to conjure up some water or bubbles, quickly subsitute attacks 2 or 3 with Protect!

Alright Dratini! I want you healthy throughout this thing so use Safeguard on yourself so nothing can slow you down! And this match is underway! Hasty is the name of the game as Fenrir immediately grabs a Double Whopper and flings it at Elingana-hoping that it induces that Toxic feeling it induced over 1/3rd of America. Unfortunately, as the burger sailed through the air, mayo dripping off it-Elingana coiled herself up tight, shimmering brilliantly. Upon contact with Elingana's mouth, she spat it out, disgusted. But no poison here! Safeguard 4tw!

Upset that his poison attempt was blocked, Fenrir tried a different tactic. Ironically, Elingana tried the same thing. They both ran at each other, playing a game of Agility chicken. Then, akin to every fast moving person in Anime, they were left-right-up-down-sideways-and reversed,before glaring at each other from two very odd positions...Fenrir ended up on top of a car, and Elingana coiled around a tire....why the heck is she coiled around a tire?

Now came the time for battle. Fenrir jumped off the car, and darted for Elin. Freeing herself from the tire, she waited, until the pup moved in for the Crunch to her tail. Once he was close enough, Elingana performed her rendition of a backflip-kick, her tail being the forceful part that slammed into the lower mandible of Fenrir, and sent him flipping backwards.

You can do this Fenrir! Quickly unleash your Roar attack to hopefully scare that little Dratini and disrupt his thunder wave before it hits you! Then while he goes to unleash his dragon rage, dodge it while upping your Agility so it doesn’t scathe you! Then if that Dratini tries to wrap about you, make it pay with a Crunch attack!

As I continue to chomp down this mediocre food, Elingana and Fenrir take it to the next level. Elin's eyes light up, and her small widdle horn suddenly glows yellow. Just as she's about to release a small wave of electricity at Fenrir, the hound begins to bark incessantly, and then releases such an unique roar from his throat that Elingana stands there...mesmerized with fear!

Stunned by the ferocity emitted from the hound, Elin slithered backwards as the pup made a dash for her. She slithered around a SUV for a moment-as Fenrir just...ran past, seemingly getting faster. She knew she had to attack, but right now.. she couldn't..that was FLIPPIN' SCARY MAN!

Darting back from his perch atop a Corvette {Why are they always atop of cars?}, Fenrir made a beeline for Elin. The Dratini's eyes widened with fear, as she was then clamped in the jaws of the beast, and Crunched.

Oddly though, in a reflex action to her being scared out of her wits and now being attacked, her body stretched out, and Wrapped around the pup's muzzle! Coiling enough to wrap part of his chest, she squeezed as tight as she could-out of fear and anger. Ironically, Fenrir began to falter...unable to breathe!

Okay Fenny, hang in there! Get that little dragon off of you and take out all your frustration by using just that... Frustration! If that doesn't shake the thing off, then follow it up with Flare Blitz! Otherwise, dash at Dratini with Aerial Ace and then follow up with Hidden Power! Remember to use your speed to your advantage!

Hrm, running out of soda. I'ma go... work on that. Just like Eli is working the air out of Fenrir's lungs. The pup's struggling here people! And to make matters worse, Elin's raising part of her tail up...and smashing it into Fenrir's side. Only problem is...that tail looks as heavy as Iron. Think that got the pup over the edge, as he starts violently shaking and writing, finally throwing Elin off with a sheer amount of Frustration.

On the ground again, Elin slowly snakes around the gasping Growlithe. By the time he can successfully calm his breathing, he was struck by an onset of falling water from the sky! Bouncing away from what seemed to be a mischievous cloud that wanted to hang around him-Fenrir dashed over to Elin-and swiped her upwards. Snakes aren't Aerial creates teheehee

As Elingana heads toward the concrete with some force, she elicits the ability of her ancestors, stopping her drop and beginning to spin and waver in the sky. The intricate motions of the Dragon Dance are always mesmerizing to watch. Fenrir though is darting along the distance between him and Elin. Jumping off of two car roofs, Fenrir launches vertically to close the distance between him and Elin. Encircling his body in true atomic fashion are spheres of glowing energy-glowing orange energy

One sphere shoots off and strikes Elin-whom just finished dancing in the sky. She spun to a slightly harsh landing, denting a car roof before falling behind it.

Alright Fenny, it's time to switch into no mercy mode! Don't worry about that double team and just fire off a Fire Blast at the car Dratini is on to make a nice explosion that should hit the real Dratini, if not it should hopefully disrupt those rotten clones. Then use Protect to avoid that Dragon Rage. The trainer doesn't realize that safeguard is still in effect, so charge forward at the Dratini and ignore the Toxic, and then use the attack type advantage of Dragon Rage and fire it off at point-blank range!

As I take a seat near a nice Camaro with some nice looking ladies in it...Elin takes off in a circle. As she spins, Fenrir merely leans back, and opens his mouth....until I realize that a giant symbol of FIRE IS ABOUT TO APPEAR!

No time to waste, as 4 clones appear, the Fire Blast hits the car...and an EXPLOSION GOES OFF IN A PARKING LOT-JEEZUS! I dive, narrowly escaping debris and FIREBALLS..But Elingana looks upset. Mainly because she got Knocked the heck off that car!

Oh jeez, people are looking at me from the window cause I'm bleeding. Its ok I'm just Reffing a Pokemon match! No harm, no foul...

<< Back to it..*coughuplung* we see Elin, zipping around the wreckage, getting her body back together. Fenrir though, stays absolutely still, eyeing the zippity snake. Standing on the tip of her tail suddenly, Elin shoots out a stream of raging fire, obviously out of rage for that attack. Fenrir watched the flame...as it dances around his body...protected by some sort of shield.

Seeing that the Growlithe was merely unaffected, Elin switched tactics, and zipped to the left side of Fenrir, right as he opened his mouth, releasing the same blue-red flame! Elin though, feared not the onslaught and spat a large purple mass at the flamepup.

Elin though fell victim to the flames, but they stopped prematurely, as Fenrir was now blinded by the Toxic, Aching to scrape it out of his eyes, he had a darned evil realization hit him. He was poisoned by a SNAKE!

Fenrir whimpered quietly. Somehow, his stomach didn't feel quite so right.

I was under the impression that safeguard was still active and that it affected all the pokemon. (Like back when Dratini used Thunder Wave)

It's okay Fenny! Stay evasive and use Odor Sleuth to pin point Dratini! Then, take out the frustration you have from being poisoned and turn that into power fo ryour attack, Facade! Then if Dratini is too close, knock him away with Iron Tail, otherwise blast away with another Dragon Rage!

Wow, the owner of that Rav4 looks PISSED! I'm moving AWAY from ground zero. So is the herd of Elingana's, all slithering toward Fenrir with their widdle horns a-glowing.

Fenrir though, begins to test the winds, opening his olfactory senses to the maximum in order to sniff out the true Elingana. Opening his eyes, he was greeted with a flash of yellow, and a stinging sensation all over his body! No matter though, the real Elin stood out like a green fish in orange water.

Man, that guy is punching and kicking the pieces of his wreckage... err yeah back to this battle. Sensing Elin's exact position now-Fenrir bares all and dives at her, ready to shake her free of her Facade and lay the smackdown...

Side note: Ever see a puppy bounce? That's what Fenrir did off of Elin's Protect shield as he leapt toward her in canid fury. Twas cute, yet sad in a way. Elin though, sweat a bead of relief.

With her protect fading, Elin could feel a lessening of her other shield around her currently. Knowing what could happen, her jaws opened, readily calling the spirits of her forefathers. Before the berth of fire could be released upon the Hound, Fenrir's tail found her mouth first, bashing her sideways for a nominal distance. Elin winced in pain, her jaw opened for the time being.

Fenrir jumped back, noticing a flash leave from Elin's hide. That flash made his eyes, and quizzically, his stomach hurt.

With a mere flick of his tail, Fenrir was back up and about. As per his master's command, a gentle breeze soon began to envelop the Growlithe. It felt warm. thick in some areas though...and well.. a little tight? Opening his eyes, he yelped, that freaky snake coiled itself around him...and began to put the squeeze on him! He wriggled, utterly losing concentration of the Safeguard he was preforming.

Fearing this predicament again, Fenrir snarled and began to dash about, carrying the dragon with him! Elin looked around nervously as Fenrir began to run into incoming traffic! Closing her eyes, she Endured the ride, as Fenrir suddenly coasted past the truck, and split into 4 hounds.

However, upon looking down, he'd spot the snake still on him! CRAP!

Well, enough was enough. He opened his mouth, a putrid smell coming for it. But Elin's mouth was already open. A white gleaming light could be seen and Fenrir looked down for a split second more than what he should have done. Instantly, Elin unfurled from Fenrir's ribcage and shot a Hyper Beam directly into his face, forcing the Toxic substance into oblivion and Fenrir....


Into the Burger King Store...Jeez!

I only have two questions... mostly dealing with the Hyper Beam. Well, all of it does. Firstly, if Hyper Beam was so quickly and easily fired off... (beating Toxic mind you, which requires no gathering of energy... which goes against the ASB guidelines, but it is up to your interpretation so doesn't matter).... shouldn't it take some time to recharge? Neither McNinja or I know of this, so I am asking you. I figure there should be some risk or penalty in using it... other than loss of energy. If not, oh well. Just wanted to make sure.

No offense... and I really hate to be nit-picky too, but you might want to be a little more consistant with your attack interpretation too. Having Fenrir take so long with his safeguard, enough for Dratini to slither all the way over and induce a full wrap, but yet Dratini's safeguard be almost instantaneous (he wrapped up, shimmered and created safeguard in the instant a burger was in the air), is a little... umm... unbalanced.

GAH... I don't want to be a nag or anything, I just figured I'd bring it to your attention! ^_^;;; I think the only reason I noticed it is because I'm working hard a rookie ref to be consistent with my own interpretations too, so not to lead anything astray.

I'd tend to agree, even if it does mean that El's going to be a bit gooey. Hyper Beam going off that fast and not needing any recovery because of it seems a bit overpowered. At the very least it seems that Fenrir should have gotten his Toxic off before the beam was fully powered. Of course, this is just my opinion.

And I notice the inconsistancy with Safeguard too, the difference between getting it up while the attack's in the air and having to prepare it long enough for El to slither over there is pretty large, it seems like something worth taking a look at.

I thank you both for your replies-and never feel like a nag when asking a ref to explain their interpretation. If it helps you understand their battling interpretations better, then why not!

At least not with me. I plan on learning boatloads before moving up a rank.

Let's see what I can patch up here in explanation, before trying to make things more consistent. #1 Safeguard.

As you notice, Elin is now faster than Fenrir, due to Fenrir having been paralyzed earlier. Henceforth, she'll be able to cover more ground faster. I guess its the way I typed it. Elin wasn't that far away from Fenrir in order to catch him before doing the Safeguard completely. The burger toss from round one was a considerably longer distance, as Fenrir had to run to the Dumpster, and then throw the burger quite a ways back.

But that's neither here nor there. It is a bit unbalanced.

#2: Hyper Beam

Fenrir did fire the Toxic, but the Beam came out so harsh that it melted the Toxic away before impact. Toxic takes some time to acquit to, -though not as much as Hyper Beam. As I re-read this...I did that pretty bad as well. u_u Yesterday was a long day..

So, basically, do ya want me to re-ref that round? I got no problem with it?

Then while it is relaxing, gear up a Safeguard! Then, wait for the Thunder Wave to pass by as you use Toxic!

Well now. The lot seems to be clearing out. Maybe its because Fenrir just flew through a window and crashed into the local Burger King. None the worse for wear, he crawled through the window again, and watched Elin raise her widdle head.

Yeah, she was incredibly tired currently, and needed a moment to recharge! Seeing she was a sitting duck, he conjured up the spirit and energy to dash over and fire a ballistic Dragon Rage at her. Fire in the hole as Elin wailed.

Realizing that was a crapshoot, Elin was now in some serious trouble. She was ordered to rest, but she was nervous she might get hit again. Rest shit did, but in a tight little ball.

Ha! Fenrir didn't care. The glimmer fell from the sky, enveloping him in seconds so we never have trouble with this move again lol, coating every inch of Fenrir like Achilles..only including his heels.

Well, nothing happened. That was a relief! Elin dashed over to Fenrir now, and then made a sharp left, as Fenrir began to assimilate poisonous fluid into his mouth again. A shot of lightning shuttled over and Hit Fenrir, only to fizzle out across his body.

Elin would soon skid directly into a ball of Toxic juices, totally covering her for the moment. A bark for glee, it finally worked!

A battle of the weather now fell upon the Burger king lot. Storm clouds grew from one end of the horizon, pure shafts of light form the other. With a titanic melding of colors-they clashed, each vying for principality over the match. In the end, the Rain beat out the sun-only cause it was called out AFTER Sunny Day was used.

Seeing that the rain won, Fenrir drooped his ears a little. But that was not to stop him! Or his brethren Even within the rain, 4 clones stood side by side, ready to take out Elin, and whatever she could throw at them...

...Except..maybe for that. The rain clouds cackled with thunder as their laughter, before the darkness revealed ancient crags of volatile power. They streamed toward the Growlithe group, dismantling them..O JEEZ THEY'RE BLOWING UP CARS! GO FOR COVER! GET OUT OF HEYA!!

*Dives for cover as Draco Meteor lays waste to the parking lot!*

After the dust settled, and I free both Dr Mcninja AND Bulbasaur 4 from the wreckage of a Mazda, Elin is quietly panting, while sitting on upturned pieces of asphalt. Suddenly, fire streams up from all around her, and encases her in a tomb of flame. Barking, Fenrir shows his displeasure after getting mauled by that attack-thinking he's got the widdle dragon now.

Man, Fenrir has some bad luck. A Wave of water(most likely coming from the drainage system that flows to the Burger King) came shooting up from out of the cracks, flooding over the Dratini (consequently dousing the flames) and striking Fenrir into a large piece of rebar!
