Ahhhhhhhh~ It's a beautiful day at the beach, and perfect weather for a light-hearted battle! I'm laying out my towel and umbrella as I watch chaos_redefined and Phoenixsong head towards opposite sides of the beach. chaos_redefined releases his Pokemon first, an unnamed female Lapras. She lands in the water contentedly and starts swimming around with leisure. Phoenixsong releases a female Minun named Via Negativa.

Okay... it's been a while now, I wonder where Adrenaline went. Wait, what? HE'S NOT HERE!? This will NOT do! I jump in, clad in my bikini and feel my face turn red. I pull out a miniature microphone from seemingly thin air, still unable to believe that I jumped in on a battle between strangers. Uh... Kurosakura, certified (rookie) TPML referee, at your service! I'll be more than happy to fill in for Adrenaline while he's on his hiatus!

Lapras begins the battle with a swift Ice Shard, ramming into Via Negativa before she could pull off her Substitute. However, she's encompassed by a brownish glow and sends some of that attack back to Lapras. Talk about backlash!

Via Negativa: -4 HP, -6 EN

Via, afraid that she might get hit with one of Lapras' scary Special Attacks puts up a Light Screen immediately. However, Lapras' intention was to Confuse her using a Confuse Ray. Although the sinister-looking ray only filtered in through the Light Screen, she seems to be teetering and tottering. I think she's Confused!

So Lapras, content with Via's Confusion, brings down a Hailstorm! It's the middle of summer for crying out loud! Don't do this! A superball-sized chunk of ice falls down and hits me on the head, and I run for cover under my umbrella to wait out this monstrosity. The Trainers and Via, on the other hand, are getting clobbered by those things. Via, unhappy with this Hail business, narrows her eyes at Lapras and starts thinking about all the things she would do if she had the opportunity.

I imagine that the hail will fall right through the clones and make it fairly clear which Lapras is the real one, but I'm not in the mood to take chances so just use Shock Wave to hit everything. End with another Nasty Plot--if you're still confused, then maybe a little time to sit down and plan terrible, terrible things to do to Lapras will help clear your head a bit.

Lapras starts off the round by making a quick substitute out of wet sand, dry sand, hail balls, seashells, and... driftwood? Via immediately sees the Substitute as the real Lapras and charges at her, attempting trying to figure out how she’s gonna pull off a Thunderbolt, but she faceplants into the sand and hits herself on a broken beer bottle. People, littering is BAD! Think about the Pokemon! OW! I leaned out too far and got hit by hail! I’m sure the Trainers aren’t too happy about this either.

Lapras decides to make things even worse for Via, dividing herself into 4 more clones, further confusing her. She charges randomly at her, but forgets what she was going to do due to her confusion and runs right into a battered palm tree. Stupid hail.

Lapras brings down an Avalanche out of nowhere! How the heck does that work? The snow just… kinda… fell down out from nowhere and practically buried Via under that mess! She popped her little mousey head out of the mass of snow and started plotting nasty stuff again.

Ah, well. Confusion's a bitch sometimes, my dear, that's just how it works. What can you do but shake it off and try again? Shock Wave the round away, and do try to sit still until your head feels better, mm?

Also, I just noticed something. Shouldn't you have subtracted ~25% health from Lapras for Substitute? You didn't take any off of Via Negativa when she "used it" last round, either, now I think about it.

Substitute:-NRM-The user fashions a body double out of materials from its Malletspace Account and animates it with its own life force. This body double will suffer the brunt of any attacks an opponent makes until it falls apart, since Substitute also allows the user to mentally implant a misperception in all opponents that the Substitute is the actual pokémon it was built by. The opposing trainer cannot successfully order their pokémon to hit the “real” pokémon because their pokémon has a mental block against realising that Substitute has been used. While the user of Substitute is not immune to harm, affected pokémon can only harm the user by sheer accident, since they cannot deliberately aim at it. However, non-intelligent sources of damage, such as arena damage and effects that cover the entire arena will hit both the user and the Substitute at full damage if the user and Sub wander into the affected area. Making a Substitute is even worse than normal, for instance, if the arena is being flooded with lava and everything is getting burned. The Substitute takes full damage from the lava and the creator takes full damage as well. When made, the Substitute can be charged with a varying amount of life energy from the creator. However, in the heat of battle the user will NOT be able to understand precise numerical requests, so realistic trainers should keep their requests phrased appropriately vaguely, such as “big Sub,” “regular Sub,” “as small a Sub as you can make,” or the like. The amount of energy actually put into the Sub is partially random, as is the amount of health the Substitute actually has. These values will be close to each other, but the actual health may be slightly higher or slower than the energy put in, depending on various random factors up to the ruling of the referee.

He is saying I should be at (86-25)HP, which is instead in the substitute. Essentially, to attract blows, you need to put some life essence into it, which has to come from somewhere. That somewhere would be the user. To get a substitute with 25HP, I lose 25 HP.

In any case...

While he's confused, let's keep him unable to do stuff with Thunder Wave. After that, hit him with a Toxic, and finish with a Whirlpool. If gets unconfused, replace whirlpool with Confuse Ray.

Via Negativa is confused no more! She starts off the round by firing off a burst of electricity throughout the surrounding area, hitting the Substitute, Lapras, and several of her clones! Lapras sends off a shock wave of her own, messing with Via's nervous system and interrupting the communication between neurons!

Via attempts to fire off another Shock Wave, but can't, she's paralyzed! Lapras takes this opportunity to lob a blob of Toxic glob at Via, poisoning her badly!

Via overcomes her paralysis for a brief moment to fire off another Shock Wave, hitting Lapras and the Substitute again! That thing looks preeeeeeetty battered now. Phoenixsong: “Ah, missed that. Well, relax until she surfaces, at which point use Quick Attack to dispatch the sub and Thunderbolt on any actions you have left.”

Lapras finally wakes up with a yawn and resurfaces, only to find that her Substitute got rammed into with a Quick Attack, courtesy of Via Negativa!

Via Negativa: -5 EN

Okay, so the sub's gone. Big whoop. Lapras decides to bring on the cold again by summoning up another Hailstorm. Why? Because hail hurts. And breaks car windows. And I'm pretty sure my umbrella's already taken a pretty bad beating, sigh. Via refuses to take anymore uh... humiliations from Lapras and zaps her with a Thunderbolt. I guess revenge is pretty electrifying.

Lapras: -14 HP, -8 EN, Hail 5
Via Negativa: -4 EN

Lapras, not appreciating the shock, decides to drag Via into the water with a Whirlpool, trapping her within the vortex. Hey, be careful! She might drown! I don't want any deaths on my watch! Via, even though she's obviously being sucked under, shoots off another Thunderbolt, zapping both Lapras and herself. Hey, water conducts electricity! *shrugs*

Lapras: -14 HP, -8 EN
Via Negativa: -10 HP -4 EN, Whirlpool 5

Via Negativa is stuck by hail! -2 HP
Via Negativa is hurt by poison! -8 HP

Actually, in general, can you please start posting statuses such as Light Screen, Whirlpool, bonuses from Nasty Plot, etc...? It would help immensely.

Sorry, I was half-asleep when I put this up @_@ Anyways, the +4 Sp. Atk. was from Nasty Plot a loooong time ago, and I just put up the turn count for Whirlpool.
