I agree that Dragoon should be added to the ban list... I don't quite agree with the ban on Curry, but maybe that's because I main Falco. :x

Also, suggesting there should be a ban on the Ice Climbers level. A character with multiple jumps like Jigglypuff can basically just go wherever they want on that level without being caught...

Also, I think discussion of the bannings is in order. Or at least reasons as to why they're in place. I know I'm gonna lose in the ban-VS-no ban debate, so I won't mention it, but some levels/items listed (Smash Balls, really?) seem a bit excessive.

Regardless, I'd like to request banning of Distant World considering there's very little ground to stand on and it has TWO instant-death areas: the waterfall when it rains and the huge Bulblin when it's sunny.

Those aren't instant death areas. You can survive the waterfall and you can play on top of its head. You only die if it eats you or if you happen to be on it when it moves off stage

You're comparing whole moving stages to one single thing that moves in and out. You don't even have to go over to the side if you don't want to (unless you're thrown over there)

I would also like to second the banning of New Pork City. Especially for a duel, that place is WAAAAY too freaking big and it can last forever for Stock, or usually ends in Sudden Death for timed. I mean, it's bigger than Temple from Melee, and everyone said that one was so freaking big.

I also would like to request that Bob-ombs be unbanned, I don't see why they shouldn't be allowed. The only thing that really annoys me about Bob-ombs is when about half a dozen drop from a Party Ball, but that's not super-common, especially if we have items on Medium (which I think we should).

Well if people are banning New Pork City for being too big, why can't I ask for a ban on one which is too small.

Meh, at least on stages that are too small, there will definitely be a winner at the end. New Pork City is so large that it mostly becomes running around, very unfun, especially if a Smash-Ball appears, because then you just jump all over the stage like assholes trying to catch something that is too fast and has the area the size of a small country to fly around in.

NPC is one of the few stages I have banned on my own copy because it is, frankly, shit. Plus I hate Earthbound and everything to do with it. It flat-out sucks.

A suggestion on the stage debate. As opposed to saying this or that should be banned why not a simple random computer pick on every single stage? There's stages I can't stand myself but I got to agree with Heald. A good player of any game learns to play on ANY map.

Item wise I say keep most of them around medium but drop the easily abused items to low. As for the battles I say best two out of three, 15 stock, 10 minutes. Four stock and no time limit seems too short to me. With those setting you can draw out one round to a reasonable time limit without getting too out of hand on the number of rounds that you need to win. At most you'll spend 30 minutes fighting someone.

As for the championship round I say the following rules should be in order:
-Have everyone tally how many KO's they get. Whoever has the most among the people in the finals is considered to have "home field advantage" and is allowed to pick ANY map. In the event of a tie the pick goes to the veteran TPM member. And in the event both of them joined on the same day.....well.....shit....lol
-The person among the two who had the least amount of deaths gets to pick any one item in the game and set it to very high on the drop rate. If there is a tie here then the pick goes to the TPM member who joined later.
-Finally for a truely epic match I say one round, 99 stock, 1 hour time limit

Not a single one, Darkly. If I let myself get beaten by a guy with a Hammer or a Baseball Bat, it's my own fault for not being to dodge a slow item/an iem that restricts his movement. Same thing with a Dragoon. If I'm not good enough to stop him from gathering THREE items AND taking aim at me, then he's probably a much better player than I am anyway.

Who said Flat Zone moved? It just changes form, much like Pokemon Stadium. And Big Blue does move - all of the platforms and the ship eventually move off the screen

It's not about running away to make the time last longer; it's about how it takes freaking forever to KO somebody on that stage. The physical space the arena takes up is about 1.5 times the space that Melee: Temple takes up, and people used to hate playing on Temple for its sheer size. Even if you're both right up in each others' faces the entire time, it will still take you twice as long to KO someone on that stage compared to just about any other stage. Not to mention that the always-zoomed-out camera makes it hard to focus on your character, especially if you and your opponent pick the same character.

Anyway, I agree it should be more than just 4 Stock if we're doing Best of 3. This isn't a standard sit-in tournament where they have a limited time to have the competition finish, especially if you say we'll have 5-7 days to arrange a time and battle. I like the idea of a Timed Stock battle, so you'll never waste time if someone delays, but if you're good enough you can also end the battle quickly. I think 10 Stock, 8-10 minutes should be good. Plus, if you have that many stock and that much time, that can allow Smash Balls to be used at the same rate without it being a huge upset. (Actually, can you even change the rate of certain items but not all of them? I thought you could only change the frequency of all items.)

Oh, and Big Blue is the one where you're riding on the racing cars the entire time. There is a single platform that's always there, but many times it's halfway off the screen anyway. Plus, if you get knocked down to the track, there's a 80-100% chance you'll get pulled off the screen to an instant-KO. Port Town: Aero Dive is the one that's perpendicular to the track that has the (small but) stationary platform that zips around the track, stopping at 5 or so different spots.
