Alrighty, I asked if anybody had requested to do this, and nope, so here we are!

It's time for the...

July Ruby Beach Contest!

And I am your Contest Judge, Green Lanturn!


Arena: The Ruby Sand Beach:

A large beach with ruby sand. A grassy area is off towards the mainlands, and the water is crystal clear and flowing. Palm trees line the area as well. Trainers are welcome and encouraged to use all of their surroundings to their advantage.

This contest will focus on the glitter and essence of summer. It will consist of three rounds.

1. Single Pokemon Super Appeal (5 Moves)-
[i]Each Pokemon will perform a 5 move appeal to impress the Contest Judge. Each pokemon will be judged on their overall appeal using Beauty, as well as showcasing their pokemon's abilities. After this round, the bottom 3 contestants will be dropped from the competition. The first rounds score will be added to the second to determine the finalists.

2. Double Pokemon Combo Appeal (3 Moves Each)-
[i]Using a team of your pokemon, you will perform a combination appeal to impress the Judge. Contestants will be judged not only on the Beauty and Abilities of their pokemon, but on the teamwork displayed. 3 more contestants will be eliminated after this round, with this rounds scores being combined with the 1st round to reveal the final two.

3. 6 Round Double Battle!
[i]Using the same team from the second round, the finalists will have a 6 round battle on the beach. All moves are welcome excluding non-damaging healing moves such as Rest. After the 6 rounds are finished, the team with the highest remaining combined HP will be declared the winner.


All trainers must use 3 pokemon, but do not have to reveal their team choices until the second round.

The Winner of this contest will receive the Ruby Beach Ribbon! (to be revealed later ^.^)

APPEALS:
Start of by surrounding yourself with stealth rock - Make about 8 on the beach like you would have for a summoning spell in ye olde days.
Follow up with a haze along the floor, keep it like an eerie fog.
As the fog spreads, use ancient power and make the stealth rock vibrate, floating higher and higher, and at the sme time use lucky chant to cast the spell.
Finish up with a psychic on the sand to create a sand replica of Ho-Oh, and send the replica soaring across the sea, letting the sand disperse and give a wonderful coloured finale.

I choose Magby to show I still love it despite the Avatar change.

First create a Will-O-Wisp,
Then a Confuse Ray dot, thing, you guys know what I'm talking about.
Have the two float up in the sky, then use Flamethower to make, well flames.
Use Psychic to bend the flames into a banana shape under the dot and wisp, making a smile,
And finish it by using Helping Hand to create hands that clap along with the happy face!

Appeal:
Alright first off use Surf, then use Ice beam to freez the tidal wave. Use Dragon Pulse to shatter the ice, and use Psychic to make the ice it float around you with the psychic aura around each shard, and shape it into an open seashell ic sculpture, then sit in the Seashell and look pretty!

Start off by basking in the Morning sun. Clear up any left over effects from Global warming/Environmental disasters/previous appeals with Defog. Next, ensure that incoming boats don't run aground with a Signal beam. Finish off with a Combo of Captivate and Silver wind, showing everyone how beautiful you really are.

Okay, Starfy, let’s get topical! Start by spewing a Toxic in the shallow water and hop right in. Use Frustration to jerk about and vent your rage at Big Oil. Then, bring beauty back to our oceans by catching yourself in a gigantic watery Twister and, as you spin around, fire a Zap Cannon into the Twister to create a bright show but also to boil the water of impurities. Then, when the Twister subsides, stand proud and use Recover to show how you’ve overcome the woes of the environmental crisis! Yay!

Sweet. Ribbon guy here. I'll be on the sidelines rooting for Ayeun's bikini girls-.. I mean, for Ayeun.

We'll go with Phillip, my male Mr Mime.

Start off by using Magical Leaf to get some tree branches down. Set them up in the sand, and make a Light Screen in between the branches to make a volleyball net. Use Double Team to get some more players, and get the ball rolling with Energy Ball. To make sure the ball doesn't act weirdly, considering it's made of energy and all, use Psychic to bounce it around.

Ok Beauty and Ability?

So lets use...naa mad water Pokemon already. Rocksnot, my Probopass

Ok lets do this.. we're on the beach. Sp lets sell it to tourists.

Sunny Day to raise the temp and the light, we need it. With this much light the beach should be refracting beautifully. Use Power Gem radially outward to cause v trails so the ruby sand flies up and around. As the Gem dispersion goes skyward, around you, float up with Magnet rise, spinning with the sand. with the added help of a Sandstorm. Make sure its a nice twister with you at its top.

End with Explosion to blast the sand all about and reveal the natural beauty of the beach to everyone n_n

Sorry for the wait I will be using Halibel my Female Corphish.

Halibel start of with Hail to get some ice raining down, then use Ice Beam to create a protective bubble of ice around you then move it around a bit to try and get some of the ice shard to stick into before breaking it open with Crabhammer. Look up at the raining shards before firing a Bubble Beam into the air with a played down Rain dance to make it look like you have turned the Hail into Rain.

Ruby Beach Contest: Round 1

The Super Appeal

Each Pokemon will perform a 5 move appeal to impress the Contest Judge. Each pokemon will be judged on their overall appeal using Beauty, as well as showcasing their pokemon's abilities. After this round, the bottom 3 contestants will be dropped from the competition. The first rounds score will be added to the second to determine the finalists.

The Crowd is roaring with anticipation as we sit in the midst of this beautiful location. The Red sand gives highlight to the sparkling blue water and lush green shrubbery around it, as I, your contest judge approach my podium. "I expect great things from all of you! Now dazzle us with brilliance of beauty, and astounding ability!" First competitor please!...

Unbraced and Magby

Will-o-Wisp~Confuse Ray~Flamethrower~Psychic~Helping Hand

Unbraced, our first contestant comes forth, bowing to the roaring crowd, and sends out his first pokeball to reveal a Magby! The red pokemon stands in a striking blend with the red sand, but his first moves contrasts it. He gathers one hand near his mouth and issues a blueish flame, holding it with one hand. Then, he starts issuing a glowing Orange Orb which he holds with the other. He throws both into the air and then lets out a bust of flame, awing the crowd. Suddenly, Magby starts glowing a purplish color, which immediately encircles both orbs in the air and keeps them in place. Unfortunately, the fire has mostly dissipated, but the smoke forms a nice line underneath the two orbs creating a face-like appearance. The crowd cheers as the glow vanishes and the orbs begin to fall, but Magby issues a stream of blue energy at them, causing them to grow and explode, blinding and dazzling the crowd, who is left speechless! Next contestant please!

Oslo and Starfy

Toxic~Frustration~Twister~Zap Cannon~Recover

And here comes Oslo! He sends out his own pokeball to reveal a Staryu named Starfy! Focusing on the water, Starfy issues a spew of purple liquid into the shallows, creating a murky, dirty water which he hops into and starts flailing in madness, this is one unhappy Staryu. The crows is wide eyes, as Staryu starts spinning rapidly creating a massive twister, also engulfing all the goop within it. All we can see is a blur within the massive storm, which is suddenly illuminated from within as electric energy zaps the entire twister creating a beautiful sparkly pillar, which finally falls, the goop gone. Starfy is nowhere to be seen, but then a glowing issues from the water, and a shiny form pops out of the water onto the beach. The glowing subsides, and the crowd hops into instant applause as there stands Starfy, sparkly and brilliant! On with the show!

Dogfish and Anenome

Stealth Rock~Light Haze along the floor~AincientPower+Lucky Chant~Psychic

Dogfish is next, and we walks briskly forward sending out his pokemon, a Corsola named Anenome. Anenome begins summoning a circle of ruby rocks to encircle her. She then casts a light black haze underneath her, which starts to dissipate quickly, but the crowds attention is not on that, its on the ruby rocks which have started to shake and rise and move away from the corsola, who is actually chanting, casting her magic spell. The crowd then gasps as a figure of red sand rises and creates a shape, what appears to be a legendary pokemon, which is quickly encircled by the rocks and are sent flying out to the see, slowly dissipating itself until there is nothing in sight, how lovely! Thank you, next please!

Darth Cookie Monster and Aquamarine

Surf~Ice Beam~Dragon Pulse~Psychic~Sit and Look Pretty

Darth Cookie Monster is next and he throws his pokeball into the water, revealing a Shiny Lapras aptly named Aquamarine. She starts off by summoning a massive wave, cuasing the crowd to shriek in terror before it suddenly stops, frozen by an ice beam. The crowd cheers, as Lapras issues a large sonic pulse shattering the Ice, which she catches and sculpts into a shell around her, making her the pearl of everyones eyes...and thats that!

Crazy Elf Boy and Halibel

Hail~Ice Beam~Crabhammer~Bubble Beam~Rain Dance

Our next Coordinator, CEB, steps forth and unleashes his pokeball to reveal Halibel, his female Corphish into the water. She summons forth a hailstorm, pelting everyone in the stands and me as well! She submerges, and the water above her freezes, which starts moving about onto the beach, collecting pieces of hail on top of it. This mass is surprisngly shattered with a strong crabhammer. Hailibel then issues a stream of bubbles, which burst as they collide with the hail appearing as rain, but wait, it IS raining, as we see the Corphish doing a lovely dance before making her final bow to an applauding audience!


Darkestlight and Rocksnot

Sunny Day~Power Gem~Magnet Rise+Sandstorm~Explosion

And next we have DL, who sends out his pokemon, a Probopass?! The odd selection starts things off by sending up a ray, causing the sun to shine bright and hot, adding to the beach scene. He then causes a form of glistening barrier around himself, almost like a tunnel, which he makes use of by rising high into the air and creating a storm of the red sand below him, with himself spinning on top, its spectacular. All this comes to a literal bang as Probopass explodes launching red sand into the barrier, which collapses and sends a flume of red sand down to the ground, along with the knocked out Probopass......lets continue on...

Chaos Redefined and Phillip

Magical Leaf~Light Screen~Double Team~Energy Ball~Psychic

Now we have Chaos Redefined whos pokeball opens to reveal a Mime! Phillip stars off by sending razor sharp leaves to chop down a couple branches from the nearby trees, and then carries them over and stands them up in the sand. Then, he uses his mime power to create a light barrier between the branches, creating a sort of volleyball arena! He suddenly glows, and splits up into a total of 4 mimes, two on each side. The real Phillip creates and energy ball, and lauches it over the "net" with a psychic attack, while his fellow Mime's do the same! It all comes down to a final spike, as the crowd roars with gusto! And now the final contestant please!

Ayeun and Beautifly

Morning Sun~Defog~Signal Beam~Captivate+Silver Wind

And our final Coordinator is Ayeun, who sends out a pretty shiny Beautifly to showcase! It starts off by using the power of the sun. She starts to glow as rays of sun issue from her, giving a nice warm feeling all around. Then, her wings glow Blue as she sends forth several blue waves, trying to clear out the nice beach air! She follows with a shining beacon out to sea, mimicking a lighthouse! The crowd ooh's as she issues several pink energy hearts around her and then has them flying around in a beautiful silvery wind as the first round comes to a close!

RESULTS!

Unbraced and Magby

A Nice appeal, and I definitely see what you were going for, even though it didnt work out as you probably envisioned it. The hard thing was the flames, which out in the open air, unless you're actually lighting something really dissipate fast, so thats why the smile was of smoke. And helping hand doesn't actually create hands, but is a helpful burst of energy from one pokemon to the next.

Oslo and Starfy

Wonderfully executed. The appeal was well thought out, and showed many sides of Staryu, and was even very beautiful and breathtaking to watch as well.9.5 out of 10

Dogfish and Anenome

A wonderful appeal, and it had a great effect at the end. My only gripe would be the ordered "light haze". As this is the beach, the sea breeze would rapidly dissipate this, so it would have been better to go all out with this one. Otherwise, well done!8.8 out of 10

Darth Cookie Monster and Aquamarine

The concept was there, and it was well executed. My beef here was that you really only used 4 moves for a 5 move super appeal. It would have been another thing to say use maybe an icy wind or sheer cold to freeze together the shell, or find another means of entering the shell itself. So while a very beautiful appeal, I do have to deduct some points. 7 out of 10

Crazy Elf Boy and Halibel

What made this appeal good was the transition in the end. It really caught people off guard when the rain appeared to come from the attacks, but this was planned! Well done. 9 out of 10

Darkestlight and Rocksnot

As I said in the appeal, an odd choice, but Probopass worked for you. The appeal was stellar, and the banging ending really played to the crowd...but did ya have to knock him out? Good appeal!8.7 out of 10

Chaos Redefined and Phillip

Now this appeal for me was excellent. It really brought about the feeling of being on a beach. I applaud the use of the branches and really showcasing Mr. Mime's abilities while showcasing a popular beach activity. Great job! 9.6 out of 10

Ayeun and Beautifly

This appeal was focused very heavily on Beautifly's abilities and looking pretty, which is indeed what was asked for. The defog was perhaps a bit unnecessary, as there was nothing really to clean up, but otherwise, good job showcasing your pokemon. 8.4 out of 10

I hate my f5 button. Anyway, this appeal starts off with Grumpypig (M) and Lady Frostbite (F), my Grumpig and Froslass respectively, standing side by side.

Lady Frostbite, use blzzard to create a skating rink for you and Grumpy.
Then both start a slow dance, then Grumpypig, I want you to sweep Lady frostbite off her feet, Spin and then fling her into the sky.
Lady Frostbite, as you fly use psychic to grab some water and have it spin around you. As this happens, Grumpy, I want you to sunny day to create a refraction and rainbow effect on aforementioned water.
To finish up, Grumpy, wait until Lady Frostbite lands, then kneel down and attract, 1 hand on heart, 1 held out to Lady Frostbite. Lady Frostbite, nod your head with a Captivating look on your eyes.

You wanna try? Ok. Sonikku and Stalin (Donphan and Foretress) are up.
It didn't say how long the combo appeal was, So I'm assuming 3 attacks per Pokemon.

Oh ok beauty and awesome. Both of you. Double team so there's five members to each side. Stalin, throw a Gyro ball, but make it in the shape of a Frisbee. Sonikku, you and your clones Rollout and try to stop Stalin from successfully passing it to another teammate. Stalin, you make sure that Gyro Ball ricochets off a clone or two before sailing high, and you use Rapid Spin as you try to catch it, all graceful and stuff

Sonikku, look up and perform a Knock Off to swat the disc away at the last second, showing off your defensive skillz!! You'll both land and yeah n_n!

Hrm, so we’ve had volleyball, Frisbee… ice skating… hrm, what else can you do at the beach?

Ooh, yes! Sand castles!

Okay, I will choose Snore Warrior my male Snorlax and Buddhette my female Medicham for this appeal! Snore Warrior, use Strength to pile together a nice hill of moist sand. Buddhette, use Psycho Cut to carefully carve the sand into a splendorous castle replete with arches and parapets galore. Next, Snore Warrior, use Water Pulse to give our castle a moat while Buddhette uses Psychic to pick some seashells up off the beach, crush them up and sprinkle them over our castle to make it extra-beautiful. Then, Buddhette, I want you to use Hi Jump Kick to snatch a palm frond from one of the trees and place it atop the castle as its flag. Finally, Snore Warrior, fire a Seed Bomb into the air to create a glorious display of fireworks so that we can celebrate the coronation of King Snore Warrior and Queen Buddhette, reigning monarchs of the best darn sand castle Ruby Beach has ever seen!

Just to point it out, I generally wait for the other contestants to post first. The biggest problem that this has had was when blade did the same thing once year, and we were waiting for each other. To ensure that this isn't happening again, CEB, are you waiting on me?

Umm... Since CEB hasn't responded, I'll assume he's either forgotten about this, or he is waiting on me...

So, we'll start with Goku, my male Ambipom. Goku is carrying Bahamut, my female Dratini. Goku looks up sky to see that it's a nice, Sunny Day, walks to the end of the peer, grabs a piece of kelp, ties it around Bahamut, and throws her into the ocean. He then Relaxes on the pier, waiting for a bite. (Yes, I just used relax in an appeal. I feel weird.) In the meantime, Bahamut creates a safeguard to seperate the water around her from the rest of the ocean. She freezes this region, in the rough shape of a fish, using Ice Beam. Goku pulls her back up, Flings her into a bucket, and gets ready to go home. Bahamut breaks open the ice with a Dragon Pulse and peeks out of the bucket for everyone to see.

Sorry its taken so long to get this up, but thanks for waiting for me. For this appeal I will be using Spc. Supersoaker my male Blastoise and Rogue my male Totodile.

Ok Supersoaker start off by conjuring up a massive wave of water and bring it to the shore slowly. Rogue use Ice Beam to make yourself a a surfboard of ice. Then Rogue I want you to use a Surf of your own, but not to make another just to surf on the one Soaker has created. While you are surfing dodge to water shots Supersoaker sends at you with his Watergun. Soaker finish off a Blizzard to freeze the entire wave just as it curls. The Rogue use Slash to get some grip and slide along the tube of the iced wave before sliding into shore and posing.

Using a team of your pokemon, you will perform a combination appeal to impress the Judge. Contestants will be judged not only on the Beauty and Abilities of their pokemon, but on the teamwork displayed. 3 more contestants will be eliminated after this round, with this rounds scores being combined with the 1st round to reveal the final two.

Darkest Light, with Sonikku and Stalin!

Sonikku: Double Team~Rollout~Knock Off
Stalin: Double Team~Gyro Ball~Rapid Spin

And here comes our first competitor, DarkestLight! He tosses out two pokeballs to reveal a Donphan and a Forretress! Both pokemon face the audience, take their bow, and then turn to each other. Both pokemon give off a faint glow as first two copies, then two more appear from each pokemon creating a total of ten pokemon on the field. The crowd seems impressed by the sheer numbers. Suddenly, one of Stalin's clones starts spinning very rapidly, and due to a line of reddish energy around his center, he almost appears flat, like a frisbee. This "frisbee" smacks into a couple clones causing them to dissappear while several donphan clones are rolling in and out, trying to smack the frisbee down, it really is quite an amazing frenzy. Finally, its down to the originals and the frisbee as Stalin goes into his own spin trying to approach the frisbee, but Sonikku has his own plan, as at the last second, he knocks the clone away, smashing into Stalin, and both pokemon come down, landing in the same position they started. The crowd roars in great applause, well done!

Dogfish44, with Grumpypig and Lady Frostbite

Grumpypig: Fling~Sunny Day~Attract
Lady Frostbite: Blizzard~Psychic~Captivate

Following that last great appeal with have Dogfish44, who sends out a Grumpig and Froslass! Lady Frostbite starts things off by sending a flurry of snow towards the water, creating a thin layer of ice for the pokemon who move over and join hands, starting to dance, awww...Grumpypig then flings Lady Frostbite into the air, and she takes some water with her, encircling her body in beautiful fashion. The sun suddenly goes bright and hotter than it already was, as Grumpypig uses sunny day, but this diminishes the water being used by Lady Frostbite. When Lady Frostbite lands, a crack appears in the now warm ice, and as Grumpypig bends down to pour out his heart, we see only a moment of hearts as the ice underneath him shatters and he goes splashing into the water. Lady Frostbite can only issue her own hearts and look pretty!

Crazy Elf Boy, with Supersoaker and Rogue

Supersoaker: Surf ~ Water Gun ~ Blizzard
Rogue: Ice Beam ~ Surf ~ Slash

Now that the ice from the previous appeal has melted, our next contestant Crazy Elf Boy approaches and sends out two water types, a Blastoise and a Totodile! Supersoaker starts things off big by creating a big wave offshore, slowly working its way in. Rogue hurries and creates a longboard out of the water in front of him with a blueish beam and then paddles out to the oncoming wave and suddenly its surfs up dude! The crowd roars with applause as Rogue impresses them with tricks, dodging the shots of water from Supersoakers canons. Supersoaker finally sends his own flurry of ice freezing a nice tunnel of the water which Rogue slides in and shreds as he comes to shore, a nice crashing of ice right on his tail, impressive!

Oslo, with Snore Warrior and Buddhette

Snore Warrior: Strength ~ Water Pulse ~ Seed Bomb
Buddhette: Psycho Cut ~ Psychic ~ Hi Jump Kick

And we're off with yet another coordinator! This time it's Oslo, who sends out a giant Snorlax and an elegant female Medicham! Snore Warrior starts collecting an overly large amount of sand, which Buddhette starts chopping away at, creating a masterpiece of sand! Snore Warrior then fills the outside area with a large pulse of water rings. This does cause minor damage to the sand castle, but no matter, as Buddhette brings over a collection of shells which she psychically crushes, spreading them all over the sand, making it glitter. She finally jumps high and knocks down a palm frond and brings it over, placing it on top and Snore Warrior lets out a massive bomb which explodes several feet above the castle to great effect! Amazing!

Chaos_redefined, with Goku and Bahamut

Goku: Sunny Day ~Relax ~Fling
Bahamut: Safeguard ~Ice Beam ~Dragon Pulse

And here comes our leader! He sends out the combination of Ambipom and Dratini. Together they walk out towards the pier as Goku collects pieces of kelp and starts tying them around Bahamut, whom he then tosses in, almost as if fishing. He then sits there. Meanwhile, within the water, Bahamut is creating a large shape using Safeguard and Ice Beam, of which the crowd cannot really see. Goku pulls up his new "fish" and flings her into his bucket, which explodes with a big pulse eminating from Bahamut as the round comes to a close!

Darkest Light, with Sonikku and Stalin!

This appeal was well thought out. It kept the audience's eyes moving, which is a very good thing. Plus, it had a lot of excitement and really showcased both "spinning" pokemon very well. I applaud.

Dogfish44, with Grumpypig and Lady Frostbite

This appeal had good moments. My main issue with it was the use of "Sunny Day." This move really didnt do much for either pokemon, and as we were already on the hot beach, it only intensified to melt the ice much faster, as you noticed. This did leave Froslass to fall short on a couple instances. Otherwise, nice job. 7.4 out of 10



Crazy Elf Boy, with Supersoaker and Rogue

Once again, this was a very nice appeal, and what this appeal showed well was teamwork. The combination of Supersoaker and Rogue worked well for you, so nice job. 9.6 out of 10



Oslo, with Snore Warrior and Buddhette

This appeal was very nice. The sand castle was a great treat, and indeed showcases a very popular beach activity. Some slight damage to the castle occurred from the roughness of water pulse, but otherwise it stayed pretty much intact and displayed well! Once again, this appeal showcased teamwork, so good job. 8.9 out of 10



Chaos_redefined, with Goku and Bahamut

Im not gonna lie, there were several things wrong with this appeal that left the audience kind of unhappy. The first was the use of Relax...I had already penalized a competitor during the first round for basically not using a move...so even using Rest would have showcased a move. Second, the use of Sunny Day. I understand the plot you were going for, fishing on a hot day, so this wasnt that bad, but it just left us wondering. The final thing was that most of Bahamut's actions were underwater and not visible to the audience or the judge, so its hard to give a score for moves i couldnt see, if you understand what im saying. 6 out of 10

Ok lets see what we can do with this and hurray no damage caps. Rogue I want you to get between Snorewarrior and Buddhette and when the thunderbolt goes for you use Aerial Ace to dodge it and hopefully let it hit Snorewarrior as well as hitting Buddhette yourself. This might knock Snorewarrior off balance enough to stop the gunk shot giving Supersoaker use Yawn on Snorewarrior. The Supersoaker I want you to Yawn on Buddhette while Rogue ducks down and deals a Massive Low Kick to Snorewarrior. Then Supersoaker use a Focus Blast on Snorewarrior while Rogue uses another Low Kick.
