Battleready Lateral Interstellar Template Zone

The arena is in the vast expanse of an alien planet of decaying ruins and broken, abandoned cities. Stuck in a state of constant and erratic polar shift, the planet is turbulent and unpredictable, and thus there is only one safe place to battle: the sky.

There is no specific Gym arena: The entire atmosphere is free to use. Both Pokemon battle from atop magnetic platforms that can alter in size from tiny plate-sized objects capable of holding a Caterpie, to fifty-foot dais that can support a Wailord. These platforms act as magnets to their riders, so there is no danger of being knocked off of them.

It is recommended that you use stick with special attacks during this battle: Using physical attacks require the crafts to burn much energy moving around as well as crash into one another. This will eventually cause them to lose altitude and crash, resulting in an automatic KO.

It is also recommended that you watch your altitude: Drop too low and you could get Confused by the magnetic waves of the ground below. Conversely, ascending too high could cause Freezing by the frigid upper atmosphere.

Banned moves: Moves that require the land or sea (Surf, Fissure, Earthquake, Waterfall, etc.). Rock attacks are usable thanks to the ruins below.

Altered moves: Sunny Day (The turbulent magnetosphere sometimes allows unfiltered sunlight to break through. Can cause Burns. Ever see the Golden Gate Bridge scene in The Core? It's kinda like that.) and Rain Dance (Magneticism = electricity. Starting a Rain Dance will cause rain as usual, but it will also cause superstorm-level lightning. If you see it moving towards you, you better watch out!)

Also, one last note: Since we're gonna be battling in the sky, shooting at each other over a barren, polarized planet, we of course need some badass music. Our battle theme will be Ikaruga's epic boss music: Butsutekkai!!!


No, I haven't revamped my Gym yet. Don't think that that'll make things any easier, though. The Badge you are fighting for is this:

A Badge crafted by yours truly, it doesn't come with any fancy gimmicks or stories attached. It's just metal and plastic... But if you stick a watch battery in it, it's compatible with any console.


Here are my rules:

1. The battle will be a 4-on-4 brawl, 1 Pokemon at a time.
2. Aside from what is listed in my arena, no moves are banned. I'll be nice and refrain from spamming moves like Rest, Toxic, and the like, until you use them on me first. At that point, all bets are off.
3. The DQ time will be 1 week, and not a second longer.
4. I will send out first, and you will attack first.


Those are my conditions, chaos_redefined. Do you accept?

Couple of questions.

You say physical moves require additional energy due to the requirements of moving the platforms. Does that include projectile based ones like Ice Shard and Bullet Seed?

Is it possible to damage the magnetic platforms? (Guessing not, but figure I'll clarify these things)

Do fliers care about the platforms and/or the magnetic fields? If they don't care about the platforms, can they use physical moves without concern?

Once I have answers for those, I accept.

1. Projectile moves are fine, regardless of the retarded classifications that they have been given.

2. Not intentionally.

3. Flying Pokemon are 'tethered' to their platforms via an invisible rope of energy. So Physical attacks will be just as draining for them as it would be for anybody else.

Bulbapedia-under Transform's entry

Gastro Acid
If the Pokémon that is Transforming has previously had Gastro Acid used on it and then subsequently uses Transform without switching out beforehand, the Pokémon that it transforms into will not regain its ability, and thus will not change forms if the ability of the Pokémon transformed into causes this.

That means Ditto DOES gain the Ability of the opponent-if Gastro Acid can then nullify Ditto being able to use said Ability.

In battle, this Pokemon always goes last, no matter what.
The Pokémon prefers to battle at its own leisurely pace, watching and waiting for its opponents to make their moves before getting started with its own. The Stall Pokémon always moves last in every round no matter what, thereby breaking the normal rotation method for issuing attacks. If there is more than one Stall Pokémon on the battlefield, those Pokémon move in normal speed order.

Okay DL, that ecerpt from Bulbapedia is all kinds of messed up. So I checked out Limber's page:

In battle

Limber prevents paralysis. If a Pokémon is paralyzed and gains this ability through Transform, Role Play or Trace, then the paralysis will be removed. If this ability is then lost, the Pokémon will be paralyzed again.

So the Ability IS coppied as well as appearance and moveset. Which means for the first round, Chaos will go second, no matter what, and after the first Round, move order is determined normally, correct DL?

Stall is pretty powerful. Sableye's moveset is pretty poor, but Stall makes up for it a fair bit.

Once you've Transformed, use Hidden Power and, if there's any moves left, Fire Punch.

Well well, it's come to this. High above the ruins below its the place for one of Blademaster's final matches as a Gym Leader before he (at least I think he was) ascends to the newly established Elite Four. His first Challenger, after jumping through a set of hoops, some of which were on fire, and over a shark or three, is chaos redefined.

Even though he went through all that, chaos is ready to give Blade a fight. As the Gym Leader unleashes a mailable blob of pink goo, also known as a Ditto that goes by the name Doopliss. Chaos responds in kind by calling on a short humanoid creature with gems for eyes and sticking out of its body. It's Nightstalker, chaos' Sableye

And so it begins. Can Blademaster stop chaos in his tracks on his way to becoming the Random God's Gym replacement, or will chaos live up to his namesake and become the new Gym Leader of Random?

Let's get things started! Pokémon Gym Battle all set?! Ready! GO!

Nightstalker rushes in quickly, using the tether length to slap Doop across the face twice, taking his opponents mind, but also causing both platforms to take damage (-2 E @ Nightstalker/-2 H @ Doopliss (Flinch!)).

Doopliss takes the time to transform, glowing and beginning to transform into his opponent (-7 E @ Doopliss, Transformed into Sableye!). Nightstalker waited for this moment but... for what? To use Thunder Wave? It doesn't know that! Oh crap.

Embarrased about the mix up, Nightstalker starts flinging insults at Doopliss, dissing his transformation abilities (-3 E @ Nightstalker/Taunted → 5 Actions), oh that got Doop's blood pressure going. The new Sableye concentrates as spheres of energy swirl around him before they unleash, striking Nightstalker fairly hard (-7 E @ Doopliss, Hidden Power → Fire/-7 H @ Nightstalker), and leaving a lingering burning sensation.

It's begun ladies and gentlemen. So far the match is anyones! Can Blade hold onto his honor against chaos' tactics, or will chaos be bent over to Blademaster's whim?

We've seen the set up, so lets get to the punchline. Blademaster is plotting to use his Ditto's abilities to make the fight for chaos as hard as can be. Can chaos stand up to the assault, or will he fold like a house of cards?

Nightstalker unleashes a beam of warped images at Doopliss (-3 E @ Nightstalker), but the attack misses since the Ditto-copy is gone, right before he slams into the real Sableye (-5 E @ Doopliss/-9 H @ Nightstalker), causing both platforms to take damage.

He got beat pretty hard, but Nightstalker taps the edges of his fingers together like an old cartoon villian as he plots something devilsh (-3 E @ Nightstalker, SPATK → +2). While Night has a plan, Doopliss has one of his own, channeling and charghing a sphere of shadows before through it at the real Sableye -5 E @ Doopliss/-9 H @ Nightstalker).

Nightstalker summons a cold wind of danger to wash over the field (-6 E @ Nightstalker/-12 H @ Doopliss). The cold bites down to the gems in Doopliss' body, and as a wind-breaker, he fires off a pulse of energy (-7 E @ Doopliss/-11 H @ Nightstalker).

The battle is on, and it seems like it's still anyones fight. Can chaos defeat the enigmatic Gym Leader, or are his dreams for naught?

Doopliss' platform lowers down out of Nightstalker's sight, but not out of his attack as he sends out a massive area attack of electricity (-5 E @ Nightstalker/-7 H @ Doopliss), but that doesn't stop the hit from Nightstalker's blind-side (-6 E @ Doopliss/-6 H @ Nightstalker).

That didn't work as panned, so Doopliss start plotting its next move, and starts snickering before it realizes that it forgot what it was giggling about (-3 E @ Doopliss/-5 E @ Nightstalker, SPATK → +2). But Nightstalker is giggling, because he knows!

Doopliss gathers the shadows just as Nightstalker does. They throw their attacks at each other in classic DBZ style, meeting in the middle, but Nightstalker's has more power behind his and blasts through Doop's attack (-6 E @ Nightstalker/-7 E @ Doopliss, -10 H @ Doopliss).

Doopliss still has the advantage, but with Nightstalker's new (stolen) power can he stand up to the original? Or will the clone be reduced to a pile of used DNA?
