Default Were the pokemon-advanced series good?

I watched the two first episodes of pokemon-advanced. I feel as if though I'm a little late... by a few years that is ... sadly.
I just loved the two episodes, as they were quite unique compared to much of what I've seen of the anime before. And May brings back the tons of memories from R/S/E which I played so incredibly much.

I am concidering watching the whole season or so, but first I'd like to know if people thought these episodes (from Pokemon-advanced i mean) were good?

You mean Hoenn? That season is overhyped. It was praised as the second Kanto by many TPMers, including our former moderator Hanada Tattsu. I had high expectations but was disappointed. The eppies were either too simple or too exaggerating. And the opening was the most horrible Japanese intro ever.

That being said, I want to add I watched most of it in a poor condition myself. But I still prefer the other seasons, an eternal Pokemon fanboy that I am. Hoenn was tolerable, but the other seasons kinda cast a shadow over it.

Anything beyond Johto is not worth watching. And also Mikachu, Hoenn is overhyped IMO. But I have been watching the recent season consistently and I doubt the Ishu region will improved the rating for the merchandise.

I can describe AG in one word: Eh.

After Johto, all the euphoria settled and from that point on the series just kinda settled into a mediocrity and just plain blandness from which it never recovered. AG was probably good to some people but to me it just screamed "I NEED AN OVERHAUL".

Needless to say, I don't like it but then I'm still stuck in the Johto > * mindset.

Not that the original was that bad but, the original is in its own league IMO.

This may be a little late, but compared to how horrible most of the Johto saga was, Hoenn is what made many of watch the series again. That's not to say the series was perfect, it has its own flaws like every saga.

The reason people enjoyed watchin it back in 2003/2004 is because many of the flaws of the Johto arc such as the poor writing, badly handled pokemon owned by Ash, and lackluster group dynamics were fixed. It's what also led to Misty's permanant departure from the series, simply because May became too popular and most liked the Contest episodes.

I liked it. I thought it was pretty funny to see Jessie's hair getting cut short TWICE throughout the whole run. Seeing her almost killing Seviper was calssic especially with James and Meowth saying she used "Ultra Mega Kick," and "Fury Swipes" as if SHE was a Pokemon! And then the one episode where Cacnea gets tangles in her hair right before a Contest in one of her disguises was also timeless! If I recall, I believe Chansey was holding a large pair of scissors to cut the hair.

To paraphrase Reverend Lovejoy: "Yes, with an if. No, with a but."
