    Default TPM Fantasy Football '11

Hey y'all, figured I'd start advertising this early so we could get enough participation for it to be worth it this year. This thread is for general interest for now, and once we have enough interest I'm sure Drago will want to fire up the league. So let's go ahead and get the ball rolling, who is ready for some FANTASY FOOTBALL!?!?

Perhaps you can explain how fantasy football works... Not everyone lives in America OR knows how the sport is done...

You basically draft individual players in the NFL. As the weeks go by, each player is given points based on how well they did in their games(there's rule to how many points for what and so on). Points are only given based on individual performance(numbers of yards ran, touchdowns scored, etc). You(as a member of the fantasy league) be paired against another player in the league. Whoever's "team" scored more points wins. It's a round-robin for who you play(normally), and whoever wins the most games wins.

Of course, rules for playing against each other can be changed and differ between every league. It'll all make more sense after you follow or play a league.

Bragging rights, at least. Some leagues have everyone send in like $10-20 before the game starts and the winner(s is first/second) get the money. No idea is TPM is going to be betting *looks at Bear*

Sorry Bear, I thought stickying it would make it more likely to be seen. I can unsticky it if you'd like?

I'm probably gonna pass on this season. Can't be bothered commishing for one thing, and I doubt there will be much of a response, anyway. Too little general activity at TPM to assume otherwise. Last year, a quarter of our teams were inactive from as early as week 2.

@Ayeun - DZ pretty much summed it up, and it's alot of fun. I don't plan on having any betting that goes on, so this is totally free to play.

@Drago - Unstickying it might help. I started the thread this early for the purpose of generating interest by the time the season starts. Also, if you'd rather just play and not commish, I will commish. I just want to get as many ACTIVE players as possible.

@D_Z - looking forward to a challenge this year!

The GM of last year's Titan Raiders, who fell just one game short of the playoffs, has expressed interest in returning.

I already said last year that I probably wouldn't be doing it again because the activity just isn't here anymore. Struggling to push eight members, half of whom go inactive the entire year, is not my idea of competition. I'm not obligated to defend a championship this year either.

I'll join... although it'll be rather boring if we only have, say, three or four teams. We'll have to do some recruiting, assuming the NFL ends its lockout in time for the regular season.

DK: If you'd rather not commish and no one else wants to take on the task, I suppose I could do it again. I'll leave it open for now, though -- I get the impression that Bear, for one, might be interested in assuming that role, and I'd be fine with that.

I'm ok with commishing but I am already a commish in two other leagues, so if you want to step up and do it mrp I'd let you. Either way we should probably create the league very soon if we want to reach a reasonable number of players by the time the draft comes. What do y'all think?

Don't forget, whoever takes up the reins of commish, to renew the old league, so all the history is intact!! I loves me some history.

I was able to do it when I took over for Brian. Should be an option while you're creating a league to renew. Then you just need the name of the league and password (ragingbull).

Now you know why I didn't want to be commissioner. This system is far too bitchy. Anyhow, I've increased the maximum number now, and on the plus side, every thing that fucks up allows me to increase my post count by one.

Heh.....fantasy football eh? If they don't deal with the lockout that's exactly what it'll be this year. A fantasy!

Of course if it comes to that only I know the real reason behind this crap. They don't want the Jets to win Super Bowl XLVI! IT'S A CONSPIRICY!!!! :O

I believe last years Dominant force requires an invite

Ive tried to sign in but it says im not part of the League. Maybe because i had to change my email and details last year.

*edit* Nvm, got it working. After all, what would the League be without the returning Champions?

Yeah, I had to jump through a few hoops, myself. It should be doable, though... if I was able to join, you should be able to get access, too.

    Go to http://football.fantasysports.yahoo.com.
    Click "Join a League."
    Click "Join Custom."

If that doesn't work... well, let us know. We'll get you in there.

Yeah, it's pretty early... 9:00 a.m. Central, 8:00 a.m. Eastern, and so forth. But I'm fine with it, myself; I'll probably just stay up through the night. If others want Tony to change it, well, talk to the commish!

My suggestion was 30 hours later... so, one day and six hours after the current schedule. For instance, going by Eastern Standard Time, that would move the draft from August 16 at 9:00 a.m. to August 17 at 3:00 p.m. You can do the math from there.

I'm not opposed to pushing the draft back by 30 hours, though I'd like to hear more feedback on it. Honestly, trying to accommodate everyone last year was a disaster.

I'd rather not autodraft if possible, autodraft has dealt me two Carson Palmers over the years, and I live drafted Kurt Warner back in the day in like the sixth round for great success.

Having met no opposition to the requested draft shift, I have made the changes. Make sure you check the league to ensure that I have not made a mistake.

Despite his post, Ghost has yet to join the league. I hereby conclude that he is a frightened little pansy who is too timid to compete with the big boys.

Unless, of course, he decides to prove me wrong by joining within the next 40 hours....

Well, that could be him... at the very least, though, he registered using a different E-mail in the 2008-09 season. (The archives won't let me see the New York Thunder manager for the two seasons prior to that.) I just assumed, since I counted seven teams both before and after he made that post, that he hadn't done it yet.
