It's time! Kind folks of the audience, welcome to yet another semi-final round here in the STAB-less Tournament. Today, the Water Field will serve as a backdrop for two seasoned battlers: MLG and his hot-as-heck Magcargo as well as Rossy and his verdant Roserade. The two trainers glare daggers at one another (friendly daggers, though!) as the battle begins.

The action commences as Petallion roles the dice with a Hidden Power. The gamble, however, doesn't exactly pay off in any momentous way: yellow energy sizzles against the molten snail and does nothing more than a satisfactory amount of damage. Smirking, Kamon lets out a massive Yawn. A little white cloud wafts across the field and bursts against Petallion, inducing immediate drowsiness.

Kamon Nova: <-8 HP; -4 EP>
Petallion: <-6 EP; Drowsy>

Petallion keeps her head in the game by clapping her little pompom flowers together. Clouds collect over the stadium and begin to spill rain all over the field. Petallion, who's feeling a little less drowsy and a little more invigorated by the rain, watches as Kamon tries to attack with a tiny blue flame. The flame makes it a few feet before sizzling out in the rain. Lame.

Kamon Nova: <-4 EP>
Petallion: <-4 EP>

Rain or no rain, Petallion is now finding it incredibly hard to stay awake. Stifling a massive yawn of her own, she uses her available flower as a hand-cannon that she points directly at Kamon. Suddenly, she discharges a massive sphere of blue energy that collides with Kamon, doing colossal damage. Kamon hisses and lets out a croak, causing surges of sand to spill out over the battle instead of the rain. However, Petallion doesn't notice: she's fast asleep.

Motes of sand tear against Petallion's green skin <-3 HP>.

As the Sandstorm continues to whip and rage around us, Petallion mutters something in her sleep before hopping to her feet. Eyes closed, she nonetheless manages to stumble toward her opponent and Cut into him with one deft motion. Anyone in the mood for some diced escargot? Shaking off the weak hit, Kamon succeeds in doing what he couldn't do last round: he releases a tiny blue flame that bursts against Petallion, inducing a searing Burn on her abdomen.

Kamon Nova: <-3 HP; -4 EP>
Petallion: <-3 EP; Brn>

Petallion seems to be waking... slowly. She's still under as she performs her next Sleep Talk, which results in a tiny seed firing from one of her hand-flowers and sprouting right atop Kamon's head. It flashes with green light. Meanwhile, Kamon's body seems to be expanding slowly. Cracks fire up and down his shell as his body gets roided out. Hey, Kamon, where's the beach?

Petallion: <-4 EP>

Petallion wakes. Without skipping a beat, she shields her face against the Sandstorm and approaches Kamon. A cloud of blue powder fills the air as she attempts to induce the same Status condition from which she only just recovered. Kamon tries to respond with a ground-shaking Earthquake, but even with his lovely Speed modifier he's still the slower Poke. Before he can attack, he slumps over and succumbs to Sleep.

Kamon Nova: <Slp>
Petallion: <-4 EP; Slp no more>

Kamon Nova is sapped of a little bit of health <-3 HP> which transfers to Petallion <+3 HP>. That health is promptly taken away by the Sandstorm <-3 HP> and a little extra is robbed by the Burn <-3 HP>.

Still standing no more than a foot away from the magma slug, Petallion releases a sweet-smelling odour that diffuses around her. It smells like a bunch of different perfumes decided, hey, let's just go ahead and have an orgy! Petallion inhales the fragrant emission and feels relieved of that pesky Burn, but watches in horror as similar effect seems to be occurring for Kamon Nova. The Magcargo is jolted from sleep and doesn't miss a beat, causing tremors to ravage the arena. Petallion is tossed to the ground. Well. Crap.

Kamon Nova: <-8 EP; Slp no more>
Petallion: <-12 HP; -4 EP; Brn no more>

Clambering back to her feet, Petallion studies Kamon Nova's increased physique and focuses on emulating those same boosts herself. Soon, she and Kamon Nova are neck-and-neck in terms of stats... or at least until a Bulldoze sends her careening again to the ground. Her agility takes a dip.

Sick of all this mother-effin' sand, Petallion takes the opportunity to show off her fiercest dance moves. Werrrk it, lady! Heavy clouds gather over the field and pound the sand into submission with a battery of cold, fat raindrops. Kamon winces against the precipitation but is ultimately unhindered as he releases yet another onslaught of seismic goodness. Petallion tumbles to the ground once more, ready to toss cookies after all of this shimmying and shaking.

Kamon Nova finally loses a bit of damage <-3 HP> to the Leech Seed while Petallion's prospects better by a hair <+3 HP>.

As rain continually douses the field with water, shenanigans continue. Petallion releases a series of roots that dig deep into the battlefield, penetrating the soil and extracting nummy, nummy nutritients. Nothing like a little nitrogen to satisfy your midday hunger! Kamon Nova, meanwhile, hurls his body forward and lands hard on Petallion. Dogpile! Or, uh, slug... pile...?

Kamon Nova: <-7 EP>
Petallion: <-12 HP; -4 EP; Ing>

Petallion heaves the slug off her body and prepares to douse him with a point-blank Weather Ball. However, as she readies her aim, Kamon Nova causes a sudden Earthquake to send everything helter skelter. Petallion loses her footing and the Weather Ball's aim is compromised so that the powerful move merely grazes the big ol' slug. Kamon Nova hoots over his good fortune.

Kamon Nova: <-12 HP; -8 EP>
Petallion: <-13 HP; -8 EP>

The battle keeps going at a fever pitch as Petallion shoots off another Weather Ball which hits with full accuracy. Between the field's mysterious energy, the slug's double weakness to Water, the pouring rain, Petallion's boosted Special Attack and Kamon Nova's ailing Special Defence... it all adds up to one doozy of strike. Doozy or not, Kamon Nova leaps upon Petallion yet again, hoping for Paralysis. However, the RNG is not on his side: rather than inducing Paralysis, he feels a sickly sensation in his belly as he's pricked by Petallion's poisonous barbs. Uh-oh.

Kamon Nova loses health to the Leech Seed <-3 HP> and the Poison <-3 HP> while Petallion gains health from the Leech Seed <+3 HP> and her Ingrain <+3 HP>.

The downpour keeps on, um, downpouring as the fifth round of our battle kicks off. Petallion, ever the speedy little posy, rockets off the kajillionth Weather Ball of the match. (Anyone else getting the impression that Kamon Nova isn't enjoying them?) The slug closes his eyes and exercises a weird bit of trickery that results in Petallion flat-out forgetting how to use Weather Ball. One second it's there, and the next it's forgotten. See? This is why you write things down.

Kamon Nova: <-35 HP; -4 EP>
Petallion: <-8 EP; Weather Ball>

Petallion then performs her second Hidden Power of the match, assaulting Kamon Nova with a heavy charge of Electric-type energy. Seeing his opening, Kamon Nova throws his entire bulk forth and slams into Petallion with a mighty Body Slam. This time, he does what he wasn't able to do before: Petallion's body becomes rigid and stiff as Paralysis settles in. Nuts.

Kamon Nova: <-10 HP; -7 EP>
Petallion: <-12 HP; -6 EP>

With Petallion unable to remember how to perform her commands, this action is all Kamon Nova. The fire slug closes his eyes and begins to restore some of his lost health. Petallion looks on in alarm. No! That is counter-productive! That is not how this is supposed to go!

Kamon Nova: <+15 HP; -13 EP>
Petallion: <Can't move!>

Once more, the Leech Seed robs Kamon Nova's health <-3 HP>, as does the Poison <-3 HP>. Petallion, fortunately, can count on the Leech Seed <+3 HP> and her Ingrain <+3 HP> to help her out.
