pokemon vs digimon

I know this question has been asked many times before but is pokemon really better than digimon ?
and if you really want mine my personal opinion is pokemon does far better with the games but digimon ( mainly ) seasons 1 & 3 ( certainly not after s 4 ) is far better in the anime
i'd still like to get others opinions though

I enjoyed the first 2 seasons of Digimon, and I've never had a good opinion of the Pokemon anime. I really enjoy the Pokemon games, though, and I've yet to see Digimon release anything that comes even close.

So... I guess my opinion is more or less like yours. I do think Pokemon gets an extra point for having appeared first. Digimon took advantage of a formula which had already been shown to work, and added a few twists to make their own universe(s). Pokemon, however, took the risk of releasing something that wasn't quite like anything that was known and popular.

When I first saw Digimon I found it to be a blatant Pokémon knockoff. In hindisght I must say that - while the creature-evolution and battling certain smells a lot like Pokémon - the storyline was wholly different. Which is better - I guess it depends on what you prefer. I think the Digimon story (I can only talk about the first series here) was better while Pokémon was rather repetitive. There was also more (and harder) action but personally I preferred Pokémon due to liking the games more and preferring the friendlier Pokémon world.

I'm really found of the Japanese Digimon music. Butter-fly and The Last Element are some of my favourite anime pieces ever.

But I have to say I like them both, as animes. However, I have zero experience on Digimon videogames so I can't say anything to that...

My housemates and I used to get drunk and sing "Butter-fly" like obnoxious fools... both the regular version and the epic piano ballad version... but more often the latter. <3

Well I might have swung either way, but my Grandmother decided to buy me Pokemon Blue version back in the day, when she could have easily bought me... whatever the first Digimon game was but it wasn't out then so nevermind.

On behalf of the Pokemon anime, at least it's a bit more relaxing to watch at times because the monsters actually fight for fun with each other. Unlike in Digimon, where in the battle it's always good vs evil. The concept is less serious in Pokemon because the battles aren't always about defending the world from evil or not even training for that.

The general consensus that I've seen/heard is that Digimon has the better show and Pokemon has the better games.

I'd go with Pokemon because I was a HUGE fanatic a while back! Digimon has it's good points, you're right, like the stuff you mentioned. And the characters grow old, I think. Ash being forever 10 pisses me off. Which is why I prefer the Pokemon Adventures manga.
