We're kicking around some ideas still, and so far the most popular opinion is to move the current ASB into a read-only subforum, and starting a brand new ASB. Pokemon, cash, and businesses will go, but ref ranks and possibly Gym Leader positions will transfer.
Here is what I have on items so far. This is very loose and open to feedback.
Items are almost like attacks, they take up one command during a round and have various effects. The differences are:
-They are not used by the pokemon, and thus require no energy to use.
-There is a finite about of items one can bring into battle, agreed beforehand by the participating trainers.
-The effects of items are instant. Nothing can stop them.
The ASB will provide the utmost basic items (like Potions, Antidotes, etc.) while businesses wil move in for more advanced items. The ASB will approve all items submitted by businesses.
There are two ways to limit items: number and point value. Number is obvious: the challenger posts that only X items can be used in the match. Point value is an attempt to limit items based on strength. All items will have a certain point value. For example, an item that revives 10% HP may be worth 5 points, while one that heals 25% will be worth 10. That way newbies who want to use items, but don't want to get crushed by superior items they cannot afford, can set a limit on what is used.
Another example: when I create a battle, I say there is a limit of 3 items of which the combined point value cannot be more than 10. This means I can use 3 items worth 3 points each, 2 items worth 5, 1 item worth 10 and so on. You could also just limit the battle to any number of items, but their combined value cannot be over a certain number. Or you can allow a combined total of X points worth of items, but you cannot use any items that have an individual value over Y. As you can see, the point system is very flexible.
I think items will add a nice dimension to ASB, while also diversifying businesses.

If you treath items with point value that would be cool. A number of items... Maybe a rule that you can't go over a certain amount. But I was wondering where to buy the items and such. A pricelist is needed and value to but how can you value things compared to eachother like antidote/ice heal/burn heal and such things to recovery items.

I think I clearly answered all your questions in the first post. Allow me to clarify:
-There is really no need to have a global limit on items. People can set a numerical limit, point value limit, or combination of the two depending on how they feel about it. And there is no requirement to use items.
-ASB will sell basic items, and businesses will set prices of their wares based on sales and their production costs (overhead, basically).
-ASB will watch at the popularity of some items. Ones we to be too cheap for it's power will have tweaked overheads or just increased point value. Thanks to the point value, you can have several versions of the same item, only with different point values. An expensive item could have a lower point value than an item that has the same effect. It's a system that allows for a more active market than what ASB currently has.

I forgot to add something vital, a new type of play:
For those who are pretty confident in their skills in ASB, a special item could be released: Pokeballs. For what purpose, you may ask? High-stakes play. Let me explain.
For trainers interested, you can have a match that allows High-stakes, meaning at any time a player can sacrifice a command to try and steal a pokemon (the odds of succes/failure being based on a as-yet-defined formula) controlled by the opponent. This would be purely optional, but it would give the veterans something a bit more interesting to do.

I'm interested in the idea of item implementation and I'd like to see some details developed.
As far as businesses are concerned, I'd like to see them nationalized, so to speak.. instead of private individuals owning businesses, they would be controlled by the moderators, and money spent would simply disappear, rather than pass into the hands of other individuals. Similar to the NPC shop system employed in the games.

I agree that items in battle is good... but I have a question. Or two, or whatever.
Would all items be included? Including Leftovers? Also, would it go by RS berries or GSC berries?
Oh, and would the bussiness owners be able to create items that dont exist in the anime/games?

Chances are attached items will have to wait until they could balanced, but we might add them.
And Businesses might add a few items ASB does no sell, but they would most likely develop brand-new items.

I think High-stakes play should have limits as to who can play it. The most obvious one would be if you only had six Pokemon, but there probably should be others.

The problem with that is that the veterans and the more wealthy of ASB would shoot down every newbie in sight by just constantly using Potions and getting a few attacks in. I do request that there should be a way to stop an item, because it's not like you're throwing healing wind on the Pokemon using a Potion. I always thought a Potion was used by being thrown up and would pour on the Pokemon (based on the animation) or would be something the Pokemon would have to drink (based on logic) Like, certain attacks that could break a glass like Razor Wind or Fury Cutter.

I don't agree on using items in battle... in the real anime, you never see a pokemon use a super potion or paralyze heal, berries, etc in their battles. Since this is anime style, think about that, anime style. Since they don't do it in the anime, I think we shouldn't do it in the ASB. Though super potions do exist ... the squirtle episode... but misty uses on pikachu when he is not in battle.

Agreed. This might help businesses, but it'd be idiotic for real battles.

I agree that items are a stupid idea, as they just help businesses, and wouldn't serve any useful purpose other than imbalancing battles. Also, since money is supposed to be going, how would you pay for them?
