In addition to grass and caves, in Ruby/Sapphire the Repeat Trainers offer some good EV opportunities!

Hit Points (HTP)
- Battle Expert Timothy or Tuber Lola repeatedly. The single Hariyama he always uses is HTP 2; she goes from twin Azurill (HTP 1) to twin Marill (HTP 2) and finally to twin Azumarill (HTP 3).

Attack (ATK)
- Battle Black Belt Nob repeatedly. He uses Machop (ATK 1), Machoke (ATK 2) and eventually Machamp (ATK 3).

Defense (DEF)
- Battle Ruin Maniac Dusty repeatedly. The single Sandslash he always uses is DEF 2.
- Battle Ninja Boy Lao repeatedly. His team of Koffing is worth DEF 4 total until one evolves into Weezing; then he's worth DEF 5.
- Battle Pokémaniac Steve repeatedly. He uses Aron (DEF 1), Lairon (DEF 2), Rhyhorn (DEF 1) and Aggron (DEF 3)...but when you see Aggron, it will be followed by a Rhydon (ATK 2). Switch out after Aggron, unless you also want ATK.

Speed (SPD)
- Fight Youngster Calvin, Rich Boy Winston, Lady Cindy and Tuber Ricky repeatedly. Their Linoone (SPD 2) reach Level 36, and Calvin's final team also includes a Swellow (SPD 2) and a Vigoroth (SPD 2).

Special Attack (SAT)
- Battle the Cycling Road Triathletes repeatedly. They use Magnemite (SAT 1), and eventually Magneton (SAT 2).

I also have a few more places; these routes are good for raising two stats at the same time, so you might want to consider them for 252/252/6 EV distributions.

Total Attack (ATK + SAT)
- Route 112 is home to Machop (ATK 1) and Numel (SAT 1) and nothing else.

Total Defense (DEF + SDF)
- The Duskull inside Ruby Version's Mt. Pyre are DEF 1 + SDF 1.

Physical Sweeper (ATK + SPD)
- In Ruby Version, Meteor Falls provides Solrock (ATK 2), Zubat (SPD 1), Golbat (SPD 2) and Bagon (ATK 1).
- Battle Swimmer Tony repeatedly. He starts with a Carvanha (ATK 1) which quickly becomes a Sharpedo (ATK 2), and then adds a Staryu (SPD 1) that becomes a Starmie (SPD 2).

Special Sweeper (SAT + SPD)
- In Sapphire Version, Meteor Falls provides Lunatone (SAT 2), Zubat (SPD 1) and Golbat (SPD 2). Stay out of Bagon's room.
- Battle Gentleman Walter repeatedly. He starts with a Manectric (SPD 2) and then adds a Linoone (SPD 2) and then a Golduck (SAT 2).

Finally, here are some more FR/LG areas:

Hit Points (HTP)
----------------
For truly mindless raising, go to THREE ISLE PORT LEDGE where all you see are Dunsparce (HTP 1).

Attack (ATK)
------------
For a bit more EXP (and no Effect Spore,) go to FUCSHIA CITY and use the Super Rod in the pond behind the Warden's house. Fight Goldeen (ATK 1), Seaking (ATK 2), and Gyarados (ATK 2); run from the rare Psyduck/Slowpoke.

Total Attack (ATK + SAT)
------------------------
TANOBI RUINS CHAMBERS allow mindless raising. The only occupant is Unown (ATK 1 + SAT 1).

cheers for this thread.. ev's still confuse the hell out of me, but i'm beginning to understand more and more by the day..

i understand the concept.. and it'll probably sink in once i jump back onto my fr cart and start ev training.. all my time is currently devoted to colloseum at the moment..

is there a site anywhere that tells you what ev distribution that best suits each pokemon??

i know it depends on the move sets.. so hopefully there's a site with recommended move sets too..

:)
