I'm surprised at how far VirtualBox has come in a few short years. I'm actually able to game on it and I'm using a Linux host, though I think it has a lot to do with your graphics card.
A lot of programs that used to not be able to install on say 3.0 can in the 3.2 series. Big leap in terms of emulating an OS. The only real complaint is that getting USB working is a pain in the ass.

And actually playing...

Sad thing is: Some OSes run better on this thing than they do Natively.
I thought this topic title said "VirtualBoy."
......Yeah...
That's pretty neat. Still, as you already said there's a specs issue. You can only allocate part, not all, of your memory/CPU/space/etc of your computer onto the virtualBox, so that already means you're supposedly performing at sub-par standards when compared to using the OS directly. It does make me wonder if I should have tried this for my laptop and if it would have better performance, though.
Although the best computer I have is sadly at work, so even though I have virtualbox I'm not in any way playing games on it. :V
There are no such thing as mad scientists, only creative ones.I am the edge of my shape.
Squared is my face and cubed is my volume.
I have proved over a thousand theorems.
Variable to rational,
Variable to imaginary,
These polygons hold many numbers,
Yet these polygons will remained unsolved.

UNLIMITED BOX WORKS!
Well, the problem with doing that in my case is that obviously, I'm not on Windows. So this is my only option.
It's still a HARDWARE issue yes but subsequent versions of VirtualBox have improved on this. As a matter of fact
Most laptops with Intel GMA chipsets were unable to even START the game at one point, my friend has Xubuntu on her computer now and installed VirtualBox 3.2.6.
It is now able to create the window for the game and even get you to the login screen but it's still unplayable due to the fact that some things are STILL missing.
But it's cool that it's getting there.
Also VirtualBox is able to install things like Visual Studio, CS4 and Microsoft Office (though if you like OpenOffice there's no point.) So that's another plus.
An interesting example. I think I will consider it in the future when my computer or my sister's computer explodes for the second time so I can finally run Pangya without killing all my firewalls. :V

Did someone edit my topic title?
Also: If you run a windows machine, it would also be a nice idea to install Windows XP for those programs that break under the Vista and/or 7 enviroment and won't run in compatibility mode.

do you know the status on USB gamepads working on VB yet?
