Welcome to the Safari Zone!

With your loyal companions by your side, you teleport to the edge of Ivy Lake. A gentle pitter-pattering of rain greets you as you scan your surroundings. Perhaps because of the inclement weather, you don't spy any Flying-type Pokemon. However, you do manage to notice a pair of Poliwags splashing in the muddy shallows. Your own Poliwag watches them shyly. As you look out over the rain-sprinkled lake, you see the head Lombre emerge. It soaks up the precipitation with its Rain Dish.



A little further down the bank, you see a quaint shack surrounded by willows. They seem to be renting fishing rods and boats, but you're not sure if anybody's home.

Sloshing through the mud, you meander toward the little shack. According to the sign out front, this place is known as Merle's Rentals. Taped to the door is a note, which you examine.

You glance over and see a few rental boats bobbing in the water out front. One of them even has a rod sitting in it. Surely Merle wouldn't mind if you took one for a spin?

Who's gonna notice one piddly boat missing? You and your party hop into the boat with the fishing rod and release the moorings. As you paddle out into the middle of the lake, the rain begins to pick up. Swells of water beat against the side of the boat, which rocks and lurches gently.

Closer to the opposite bank, you see some fish Pokemon leaping in the water. They seem to like the rain.



You're not sure whether you want to pursue them or cast your line to find something else.

The rain begins kicking up a light mist, which obscures your vision. You squint in hopes of spying more Pokemon. About thirty feet to your right, you see a Marill and a Lotad doing battle on the surface of the lake. To no one's surprise, Lotad seems to be winning. Marill doesn't seem to be holding up to those Giga Drains too well.



You also see some dark shapes swimming about beneath your boat. It's impossible to say exactly what they are, but they're... large.

Ralts, use Miracle Eye on Chinchou and Poliwag so we'll know whatever happens to them.
Chinchou and Poliwag, dive into the water and try to see what those "dark shapes" are.

You tell Ralts to use Miracle Eye while sending Chinchou and Poliwag into the water to act as scouts. Soaked to the bone, you and Ralts shiver as you wait for your Pokemon to return. Meanwhile, the rain continues to escalate and your boat starts lurching a little more aggressively. A few minutes pass without any sign of your Pokemon. Ralts tries to transmit their location with Miracle Eye, but can't. Oh, that's right. Ralts doesn't learn that move. Whoops. Talk about egg on your face.

Ralts tries to use Ally Switch, but that only works with Pokemon currently in your party, unfortunately. Poliwag and Chinchou are just too far away. As the downpour continues, the lake gets even choppier. A large wave glides toward your boat and splashes you and Ralts, soaking you further. You realize there's a good two inches of water in your boat now. The wave also seems to have brought an interloper.



The rather large Alomomola starts flopping about in your boat, which is churning even more than it was before. The pink fish nearly knocks Ralts overboard with his zealous movements. That would have sucked.

Ralts uses Sunny Day... and for a second, you think it's about to work. The rain starts to ease up, but you notice Alomomola performing a Rain Dance in the boat. The rain returns in full force. Ralts then Telekinetically lifts Alomomola up out of the boat. The fish looks irked.

"Whatcha think you're doing?" Alomomola snaps, flopping in the air as rain continues to fall. "We lake Pokemon happen to like the rain, you know! And jeepers, put me down!"

To prove he's serious, Alomomola attacks Ralts with a salty Brine. Once again, your little Pokemon partner comes dangerously close to falling in the lake, but manages to stay in the boat.

Ralts releases Alomomola, who lands in the water beside your boat with a splash. Ralts readies an electric strike just incase Alomomola attacks, but the fish remains docile. You then ask him why he was attacking your boat.

"I was doing no such thing!" the big pink fish says indignantly. "A big wave swept me up and dropped me in your boat, yes, but I certainly wasn't attacking you. Jeepers, if you want to see a real attack, you should lay your eyes on the thing that nabbed the Poliwag and Chinchou I saw a few minutes ago... now that was an attack!"

"Well, I was swimming along... doing the usual Alomomola stuff... and I saw a Poliwag and a Chinchou, and they seemed to be looking around for something, I guess," he explains. "They swam close to a tall patch of grass on the lakebed when suddenly a big tentacle popped out, smacked 'em upside the head and pulled them in. I think there was a bit of a struggle. Dunno what happened after that."

"Hrm... I dunno," Alomomola says skeptically. "I can see you're in a bit of a bind, but I don't wanna get gobbled up. Promise me you'll protect me from becoming fish food and you have yourself a deal."

You offer Alomomola protection in exchange for his services. With that, you and Ralts hop into the tossing water. You're already soaked from being outside in the rain all this time, so what's a little extra moisture, right? Alomomola nods at you and Ralts and uses Dive; suddenly, shimmering energy bubbles appear around your faces. With that, you grab onto Alomomola's tailfin and take the plunge.

The water is surprisingly clear down here. It takes a second for you to get used to being able to breathe underwater. Alomomola slowly hauls you and Ralts toward the lakebed and, thankfully, it's not a particular eventful swim. As you get deeper, you see a number of Pokemon down here.



You also see a ominous patch of tall grass at the bottom. It seems to be the one Alomomola described.

Alomomola guides you to the little cluster of aquatic Pokemon, whom you ask for information. They seem a little weirded out by a human (especially one with a big bubble around his head), but they help you out nonetheless.



"There have been some disappearances in this part of the lake alright," Shellos confirms with a nod. "My own brother was nabbed just this morning! We're looking around for clues. Haven't found anything yet. Not sure where to look, though."

While the Water-type Pokemon continue to search, you check out the patch of grass. Alomomola looks frightened as he swims close, but as you part the tangled plants, you see... nothing. There are tracks in the silty bed, however, and they head off toward a particularly murky part of the lake.

"Please tell me we're not gonna follow those," Alomomola says, swallowing.

You decide to follow the tracks, which are more like furrows than footprints. It looks like something (or someone) has been dragged across the lakebed. This part of Ivy Lake is quite murky and you find it difficult to glimpse anything more than seven or eight feet ahead. Suddenly, something comes rushing toward you out of the darkness. It looks to be a Palpitoad with an expression of alarm on its face.



"Turn back while you still can!" she yelps as she swims as quickly as she can. "I only just squirmed away from her! She'll be coming after me! Hurry! Hurry!"

You try to Heal Pulse Palpitoad, but she swims away before Ralts can even execute the move. Jeepers. You then press on, following the marks in the silt. Soon enough, you see something big and pink in the distance. It looks to be a Jellicent with a panicked Feebas tucked tightly under one of her tentacles. Their backs are to you as they travel across the lakebed. They seem to be travelling somewhere.



"That's definitely the thing that nabbed the Poliwag and Chinchou!" Alomomola confirms quietly so as not to arouse Jellicent's notice. "But... where'd they go? Jeepers, this is freaking me out. Do you think we should lie low and follow or try to free the Feebas? Or, y'know, leave? I would, um, like that last one very much."

Alomomola doesn't look thrilled, but he agrees to accompany you as you pursue Jellicent. You follow her to the mouth of an aquatic cave and, just as she's about to enter, Feebas starts flopping about more frantically. The little Pokemon looks downright terrified. You watch as Jellicent flails about as she tries to maintain her hold on the fish. Through all this twisting and turning, Feebas catches sight of you and your party.



"Help!" Feebas screams to you. "Please! She's going to take me to the monster to be eaten! Do something!"

Jellicent looks over at you with an expression of shock. With Feebas still in her clutches, she shoots off a Water Pulse which strikes Ralts, sending your little Pokemon spiralling backwards. It seems to be a warning shot.

Jellicent watches as you issue commands and decides to launch a full-on assault. She Protects against the Thunder Wave and then matches Ralts's Charge Beams with crackling Shadow Balls. Both Pokemon shed health as a result. In all the chaos, Jellicent maintains her grip on Feebas. Meanwhile, Alomomola seems to be overcome with fright.

"I'm sorry," Alomomola wails, "but I didn't realize what I was signing up for! I'm outta here!"

With that, he does an about-face and swims away. As he leaves your party, the Dive effects comes to an end: the bubble around your face pops and water rushes in, leaving you unable to breathe. The same thing happens to Ralts. Uh-oh.

I remember how, at the very BEGINNING of my first SZ advencha, he had my only 2 pokeballs fall into a sewer, and 2 seconds later an eevee (which is the main pokemon I wanted to capture) shows up xD

I also remember that one time he got an igglybuff to defeat my mienfoo, ralts, and eevee all at once.

Oslo's a cruel one, that he is xDDDD

You try to issue commands to Ralts, but your words come out in a stream of bubbles. Ralts blinks and then is knocked back by a mighty Sludge Bomb. Your little Psychic-type then shakes off the attack and puts his hands to his temples, apparently trying to access your commands telepathically, but Jellicent waylays him with a pair of Dark Pulses. Yowch.

In all the chaos, Feebas manages to swim free from Jellicent's grasp.



"Get back here!" Jellicent snaps, desperately trying to snatch up the little beige fish once more. However, his deft movements evade her capture attempts. Seeing Ralts floating there in a daze, Jellicent decides to grab onto him instead and begins carrying your Pokemon toward the aquatic cave where she was originally taking Feebas. As she gets away, your lungs begin to burn with a lack of oxygen. Your thoughts grow foggy. Feebas looks at you and blinks.

"You're not a Water Pokemon," he says slowly. "Whatcha doing down here?"

I'd explain if you'd allow me to breathe first. Anyways. Let's try not to loose sight of Jellicent as I explain things to you. My Poliwag and Chinchou had been taken by this Jellicent and right now, you so my Ralts being taken as well. Even though you're just a Feebas, it'd be really nice if you try to help me.

You try to explain the situation to Feebas, but once again nothing escapes your mouth but bubbles. Meanwhile, your lungs ache and your vision is growing patchy. You need air.

"Y'okay, bud?" Feebas asks.



You lose sight of Ralts and Jellicent. They vanished somewhere around the opening to the cave.
