After two very exciting 11-inning Game Twos, we have two huge wins for the underdogs! Colorado holds a 2-0 advantage over Arizona, and Cleveland can KO Boston with a home sweep.

And yes, Cleveland really did score seven runs in the 11th.

Yep, Cleveland set a postseason record for runs scores in a single extra inning last night!! Meh, I definitely got my money's worth out of that game, it lasted over 5 hours, going well past 1 in the morning. Ex-teammates played a big role again with Ramirez having a 2-run home run and a bases loaded walk, (3rd time this series he has been walked with the bases loaded... what has happened to our starting pitchers' control?!) and Trot Nixon had the go-ahead RBI single in the 11th. It was nice of him to beat up on the Red Sox instead of the Indians in the playoffs, like he did for the Red Sox in 1999. XD Big win for Cleveland. Papi and Ramirez, and the entire team had been looking unstoppable the entire postseason, so it was huge to beat them at Fenway and finally slow their momentum.

And the best part? This series isn't on TBS!! Seriously, if it was, I would mute the TV and turn on the radio!!

Torrealba just smacked a 3-2 pitch over the left field wall to give the Rockies a 4-1 lead. I feel compelled to mention this because I used to heckle the guy back when he played AA ball.

(Seriously, Yorvit Torrealba. What a name!)

EDIT: The Rockies are one game away from sweeping Arizona. Are you freaking kidding me?

EDIT2: And there it is! The Colorado Rockies have completed two consecutive sweeps to win the National League Championship and reach the World Series!

Yay!! Cleveland is only one win away from making it to the World Series!! <3 ^_^ I really hope they can finish this off tomorrow night. Cleveland will have their hands full against Josh Beckett, but CC Sabathia is due for a good outing in the playoffs, isn't he? Of course, I just hope that they get the game in, the weather forecast for here is a little concerning, with possible late season severe thunderstorms around gametime. Its a shame that I couldn't get tickets for any of the playoff games though, I lost all of the lottery drawings... especially tomorrow's game... what is more exciting than a playoff game with maybe a tornado thrown in the mix?! Actually, I never remember the Indians having such summerlike weather in the playoffs. The last time they were in the World Series, it snowed. XD

And... what is with Manny Ramirez and that celebrating last night?! I never seen anybody that thought they were so good for hitting a home run that reduced his team's deficit to 4 runs... very disrespectful to the Indians and the game itself... even Mike Lowell from the Red Sox was questioning that a little bit.

I also found it a little odd that Francona was out there questioning the umpires about Paul Byrd's occasional use of the double-pump windup. I heard that he thought that the windup was illegal because when he does it, he appears to move towards home plate, then kinda back off, and then go towards the plate again. I understand that he did it out of gamesmanship and trying to shake things up with Byrd pitching well and all that, but really, his own pitcher, Matsuzaka, kinda does a similar motion when he is pitching, he brings his hands over his head, and just holds them there and then rocks/shakes his butt or something before finally going to the plate, to me, it doesn't look like he goes right to the plate when he starts his motion, but, whatever. XD

Isn't there any other Cleveland fans here at TPM?! I feel so lonely, I want somebody here to be happy with me!! ^_^

I'm not specifically a Cleveland fan, but I'm a fan of the underdogs (and the teams that have gone awhile without success but haven't reached the "curse" stage).

    Go Cleveland! And go Rockies!

EDIT: So the ALCS moves back to Boston. Can the Sox take the last two and move to their second World Series in four years, or will the Indians pull it out in the end?

Aack, what a terrible last two games... Cleveland hasn't even played well, and now, there has to be a game 7, and all of our top players are killing us... Rafael Perez, CC Sabathia, Fausto Carmona, and Travis Hafner. Hafner did have a pretty lousy regular season by DH standards, but this is getting bad. I am really surprised by the pitchers, I mean, I know Boston can hit, but these walks and stuff are getting crazy, and now we are going to be at less than full strength tomorrow, because Perez was such a huge part of Cleveland's success, he was absolutely dominant during the regular season and the ALDS against New York, but he has been nailed in every outing in the ALCS, so there is no way that he can be trusted in a critical situation tomorrow. Cleveland needs to establish a lead quickly tomorrow against Matsuzaka, because I have a feeling that Beckett will be out in the bullpen to help, and if we are down after 5 innings, it could be Beckett and Papelbon the rest of the game. So, it's all up to Jake Westbrook, who was excellent in Game 3 against the Red Sox. We still have Jensen Lewis and Rafael Betancourt setting up, so the ineffective Perez hurts a little, but those guys should be able to combine to pitch 2-3 good innings if needed. This game tomorrow is going to be all about getting a quick lead and making it stick, hitting Matsuzaka before the Sox bring out the really nasty pitchers.

I'm noticing some disturbing parallels between the ALCS and the 2003 NLCS.

First off, Boston's starting pitcher in Game 5 (which seems to have forced some of the momentum Boston's way) was the same as Game 5 in that NLCS, who pretty much shut down the Cubs while playing for Florida. Also the Indians self-destructed in the 8th inning of that game (no controversial fly ball this time, though). And now the Indians have gone from being up 3-1 to being tied in the series. Scary....

Yeah, I know, I was kinda thinking the same thing... Beckett seems to completely change his team when it gets to the postseason. He is quite a dangerous pitcher, with the mid 90's fastball and the mid 70's curveball, especially when the Indians appear to be looking for mid 80's pitches against him, always out in front of the curveball, always late on the fastball. It is kinda strange though, because he reminds me a lot of Detroit's Justin Verlander as far as stuff goes, and the Indians owned him this year, and seem to have a pretty good approach against him. They just looked completely clueless against Beckett though, and they never really even made him work. Hafner has to get back on track tonight, 4 consecutive hitless games, with most of the outs being strikeouts, and a double-play too. He was one of the top 5 hitters in the game for the past three years, and was clearly not the same this year, only showing brief glimpses of his past success. He is only 30, and it seems kinda hard to believe that he is already declining, or that pitcher's finally figured him out after being abused by him for 3 years in a row, it didn't even used to matter if he was facing lefties or righties, he would always hit the ball hard, and if the pitcher got him out, he would have to really work for it. Hafner, you can change everything with a good game tonight.

That grand slam to JD Drew really hurt a lot. Carmona loaded up the bases in the first with no outs, managed to get Ramirez and Lowell without letting a run in, and then serves up the grand slam to Drew. If Carmona just retires Drew, I think the game takes on a completely different feel, but that grand slam was absolutely devastating.

I am just hoping that Matsuzaka can't handle the pressure tonight, and the Indians can jump out in front early, he has pitched against the Indians 3 times overall, 2 times he has been very bad, and the other time he beat the Indians 1-0, so I know what he is capable of, the good and the bad. He seemed depressed after his last start, and we just have to not allow him to establish any confidence. Jake Westbrook needs to keep the Sox down like he did in Game 3, if he gets a lead, he must hold it, we can't afford a back and forth battle tonight, and we can't afford Westbrook pitching like Sabathia or Carmona... (I can't believe I even said that.) we can't let Josh Beckett make a difference.

Only 8 hours away from game 7... As the very least, I want the sloppy play to stop, I want Cleveland to just leave everything out there on the field, with no regrets win or lose... I hope they bring their best game, play with their hearts, and if they still lose, then Boston is clearly the better team, and deserves to win. They have a chance, and that is all that can be asked for.

Heh, this is the most I've wanted something for quite some time.

EDIT: OK let's sing!! Jingle Bells, Cleveland smells, CC laid an egg...

Meh, how depressing, Cleveland choked... again. I guess they weren't the chosen team after all. After all of the strange things that happened, early season snow-outs, the plague of bugs in game 2 of the ALDS, and even Julio Lugo dropping that popup last night to let Kenny Lofton get to 2nd base with one out and the Indians only down 3-2. I was hoping for a good game with no regrets, and certainly didn't get it. There are a lot of what-if scenarios, even if it did look like the game was a blowout... Maybe thing would have been different if Lofton wasn't thrown out trying to get to second leading off an inning, when the next two hitter both hit singles. Maybe they would have been different if Kenny Lofton was not stopped at 3rd base on Franklin Gutierrez's single. Maybe things even would have been different if Casey Blake didn't hit into that double play after Lofton was held at third. If the Indians at least tied the game there, maybe things turn out differently. Actually, they really could have went to the bottom of the 7th inning up 4-3 by simply executing, they didn't even need anymore hits or anything. Of course, Matsuzaka started losing his stuff in the 4th inning very quickly, but the Indians couldn't really make him pay for it. He went from 97 mph in the first inning to abut 91 in the 4th, and he started hanging breaking balls over the plate, he looked good early, but he couldn't have been hit harder in the 4th and 5th innings. I suppose Boston was just the better team, but the Indians did still choke in my opinion... especially Rafael Perez, CC Sabathia, Fausto Carmona, Travis Hafner, Grady Sizemore, and even Rafael Betancourt last night... Everybody that they needed the most failed when it mattered most.

I wonder where Kenny Lofton will end up next year in his quest for a World Series? Maybe he is the one bringing bad luck to his teams?!

Pokemaster Ash, you know something? You and me are a lot alike. (Well, except for you saying that you were cheering for the White Sox in the playoffs in 2005, we definitely had different opinions on that. XD) The Cubs and the Indians are like twins or something. Our teams keep pulling us in, making us believe that for some reason, this year is going to be different from all of the others, and that this team is going to finally be "the one." And then when all is said and done, the results are the same. They either miss the playoffs entirely in heartbreaking fashion, or else they choke in the playoffs. They may rebuild, get different players, but in the end, they are all the same, losing when it matters the most. So, I guess it's that time of the year again, to declare the official mottoes of our teams: "Maybe next year" 2008: When the Indians and the Cubs, baseballs two remaining cursed teams try to somehow break their curses, of a combined 160 years without winning a World Series. XD How many more times are we going to fall for this?!

You know, I think if the Indians and Cubs were ever to meet in the World Series, they would probably split the first 6 games 3-3, and then some huge earthquake/tornado or something will devastate everything from Chicago to Cleveland, and force the World Series to be canceled without a winner. Either that, or else the Series would actually be completed, one of these teams would win it all, which would then kick off the events leading to the end of the world.

Actually, some people that believe the World is beginning to end point to 1948 as the beginning of the end, because of the creation of the state of Israel. Actually, it was because the Indians won the World Series that year!!

After taking the first two at home with little resistance from Colorado's offense, the Red Sox have jumped to a 6-0 lead in the third inning of Game 3. At this point, one has to wonder if the Rockies can even challenge Boston's heavy hitters and big-name hurlers...

Yeah, they are getting kicked around with relative ease. Time for the Rockies to get desperate. Ironically enough, their opponents know better than anyone that it isn't over yet... if Colorado's going to turn this situation around, they'll have to channel the '04 Red Sox.

Can the Rockies defy destiny and take the title? Or will Boston's curse be cast aside once and for all?

Report: Dodgers to fire manager Little, hire Torre

Did anyone doubt that Torre would bounce right back from his recent firing?

(Yes, I consider it a firing even though the Yankees technically made him an offer. That offer was an insult. Nothing more. I detest the Yankees, and even I appreciate Torre's accomplishments with them.)

XD You still could have posted in the topic though. Look at me, I am a whining, complaining (a.k.a. typical) Cleveland fan who spent most of this topic complaining about a team that nobody else here even cares about!! ^_^

But I did think about it, and I found out something slightly disturbing about myself... In my own sick way, I kinda enjoy the Indians constantly choking in the playoffs... honestly!! I mean, every time they fail, I get mad at them, swear that I'll never watch them again, and then by the time Opening Day comes around, I am back watching them all over again. But the thing that scares me is what if one of these years they actually do win the World Series?! What happens then? It seems like nothing else they did after that would be really special after that... its almost more fun wanting like crazy for them to win.

Isn't that a horrible attitude to have?!

In case anyone hasn't already heard, Bonds has been indicted.

He faces charges of perjury and obstruction of justice as well as a maximum of 30 years in prison. Oh, and the ire of baseball fans around the world.

It feels very unusual, but I'm suddenly forced to root for A-Rod. As much as I think he's an overrated, overhyped, arrogant idiot, I'd much rather he hold the record than Bonds. For that matter, I'd rather anyone else hold it.
