Well, at least Waluigi is in it somehow.

I don't know though... They way they said "but..." after they said he wouldn't be in it gave me my suspicions, as tiny as they may be. Heck, a long time ago they gave us the Sonic-is-really-never-ever-going-to-be-in-the-game-because-he's-really-really-not-ever-going-to-be-there-so-stop-talking-about-him speech. Maybe he WILL be an alternate skin. After all, he technically wouldn't be "in" the game.

Whether he's in it or not, I predict a lot of myths about how to get him showing up. Not unlike that little passage on the Star Fox level of the original Super Smash Bros. Does anyone remember any myths about Melee?

Team Healer - An Item just for Team Brawls that heals allies (and enemies if you hit them instead)? Hmmm.

Kirby: Special Moves - They show off several of his hats here! His Snake one = WIN. (I like his Zero Suit Samus "Bald Ponytail" look, too. )

Subspace Emissary Movie -

Smash World Forums are working today...and apparently, the Deku Nut IS an item in "Brawl":

Deku Nut (at least I think that’s what it was) – The deku nut is a cool item. If you hit it it causes you to be stunned as if you just broke your own shield. You can also throw this item at people and make that happen to the other characters. It seems pretty useful, and the item itself is pretty small.

Interesting titbit from the Xmas Day update:

Why bother to emphasise the fact that Knuckles was in STH3 unless he is actually in the game? After all, Nintendo already have the model from Mario & Sonic At The Olympics, so it wouldn't be too far-fetched to see Knuckles as a character in Brawl, huh? Maybe not as a playable one, but could be an Assist Trophy? Think about it; Knuckles appears out of nowhere and lays the smackdown on you? How awesome would that be? Not as awesome as the possibility of Knuckles actually being playable, but the thought is nice.

I think they deserve a break. I mean, how long can they keep dragging out updates (since the game delay messed them up, IMO)?

Also, over the last weekend was the JumpFesta event in Japan...and they got a different demo than E For All!

So, I got to play Brawl on Sunday. I only got to play twice (each time you wait in line you get two games) because I had to leave right after that to catch my plane flight back to California. Some impressions / updates:

* First off, it was definitely a new demo version. You guys all know that. Wario and Kirby were in, DK and Sonic out (which kinda sucked, I really wanted to play as Sonic)
* First off I noticed Bosnly was in as a pokemon...not sure if he was in at the E 4 All demo. Secondly, the Sandbag was an item. I don't think it did anything, just sort of sat there as Mario beat up on it
* The videos they played for us did have Zelda, Pokemon Trainer, and Lucas fighting, as well as one of Snake. Lucas looked better than Ness, definitely had some different moves, though I can't really remember what, sorry. Pokemon Trainer's Ivysaur showed off his bullet seed and vine whip, as well as what I think his up-smash is (his vines spin around at a slant like a fan). Charizard was also shown doing a tail whip, then doing his final smash. IMO he actually looked pretty slow and not that good...Squirtle also looked really weak...I don't know if he's going to be the powerful character I was hoping for, we'll just have to see. Finally, Zelda's attacks that I saw (air up a, forward b, and up b) were all the same.
* Extra stages playable were indeed the Summit (or whatever they call the top of the Ice Climber's mountain), the Wario Ware stage, and Temple.
* For the Summit level I saw that if you were floating in the water for more than 2 seconds the giant fish would come and eat you. Wairo went straight down the water while on his motorcycle...that's about all i saw from other games being played
* I played on Temple for my first fight. Chose Diddy, regular costume. First thing I realized was that Diddy's regular B is where he leaps at players...kinda useless. Also, his air up-a sucks, I couldn't kill a Kirby with 150% near the top of Temple. Barely sent him anywhere. Temple is the exact same as the Melee version, no different sizes on things, nothing's redone. I got to Sudden Death with a Yoshi but got cheaped under the Temple stage by the same 12 year old kid who chose Temple...sigh
* Diddy Kong can wall jump, did so on Temple
* Second match was on Wario Ware (the lady asked if anyone wanted to pick a stage so I raised my hand and this time chose a new stage so I could report on it). I chose Wario, regular costume, so we could have some new info on him as well. I noticed he only had like 4 costumes, one of which was a cool red and black one. Anyways, about the character. His B moves are:
* B: Bite (he tries to bite the opponent, I think he moves forward a little, if you get them he'll chew on them for about 12% then spit them out)
* Forward B: Motorcycle. Basically like Yoshi's egg but I think it comes out faster. Also once you get off it falls on the ground and you can pick it up and throw it at people, causing it break even more so you can pick up more pieces to throw. So yes, it looks like those kinds of "causing throwable items" moves will be more popular.
* Up B: Wario Spin. He just spins up in the air...woopie. I think it hurts a little, not sure, never hit anyone with it
* Down B: Wario Waft - Only got this off once, really. I tried to hold down the button to see if I could charge it but no good. He just farted and went about as high as you could go from one platform on the Wario Ware level to the one above you (not very far at all, like from the ground on Poke Stadium to the platform). Hurt Ike a little, but I don't think I got him in the full blast. Seemed pretty crappy
* Other Wario impressions: I had a tougher time using him than Diddy. Granted the stage was smaller and the fight was more frantic, so I can't really say. His dash a (I think that's what it was), where he does a shoulder dash, seemed really powerful. His motorcycle, fart, and bite seemed hard to use, but again, that's only after one round with him
* Wario Ware stage impressions: Basically it works like this. You start off on the main stage, which has four platforms, two on the left and two on the right, and the background is black with a door behind it. It's basically the screen inbetween the minigames in the Wario Ware games. You fight there for about 30 seconds, then once those 30 seconds or so pass, the screen opens up and the arena changes. It changes to one of the Wario Ware minigames, such as the raining with the umbrella and hte cat, where the ninja shoots arrows, etc. (those are the only two I remember, sorry). You can get hurt by the rain or the arrows, but I think what really matters if completeing the minigame. If you complete it (such as not getting hit by the arrows or staying under the umbrella), when the screen changes again back to the main stage, you get a big circle around you. Now, the first time I completed it and got a circle, immediately after me and the only other guy who also got a circle each grew bigger (like getting a free max mushroom). Another time, people with X's (people who didn't complete the minigame) shrunk. Now, I'm not sure if something bad ALWAYS happens, because I can only remember shrinking and growing, and even if I got an X or an O I didn't always grow, but whether or not I got another power-up and I just didn't know it, I don't know. Anyways, seemed like a really fun stage, but I bet it'll be banned in tournaments.
* Gameplay impressions: Yes, much much slower, you fall at about half the speed. Also, I felt more like I was just a wall of damage moreso than a combo machine. But again, it was just after two battles, so I can't really say much. IMO it'll be awesome when it comes out.

* Rosalina/Rosetta - throws out star pieces for a few seconds, and that if you pick them up, you'll recover health. A Luma comes out with her.

* Group of Pegasus Knights from Fire Emblem Series - "they attack in a group or something, with a Falcon Knight"

* Tingle — Like the Nintendog or Mr. Resetti, Tingle doesn't inflinct any actual damage; he just stands there and does a little dance while shouting "Tingle-Tingle, Kooloo-Limpah," then disappears. I like to think of him as the Goldeen of the Assist Trophies. (needs confirmation)
* Raiden — I'm not a big fan of the Metal Gear Solid series, but I think this is Raiden (he's the guy with the white hair, right?) He just attacks with a sword before disappearing. Didn't seem very interesting to me. (needs confirmation)


Character Specific:

* Pokemon Trainer speaks for his Final Smash (meaning VO)
* Pit speaks for his Final Smash (meaning VO)
* Snake's Mine is remotely triggered not proximity based and damage ranges from 10% to 20%
* Fox is unable to move when he shoots his blaster in the air (may be referring to being able to turn around with your neutral B in the air maybe)
* Kirby is stronger than he was in Melee

"The only item I got to see him suck up was the Fire Flower, which enabled Kirby to spit fire out (pretty identical to his Bowser hat in Melee)." * Yoshi's Final Smash Fireballs EACH pack 25% of damage
* Wario's standard special move is a "Bite"; with it, you can "eat" an opponent and spit them out by pressing the special move button again (similar to Yoshi's Egg Lay). You can "eat" projectiles... if you eat a projectile without pressing the special move button again, Wario will eventually absorb it and recover a bit of health. You can also press the special move button to spit the projectile back out at your opponent. (needs confirmation)


Items:

* Timer/Clock - Slows your opponents down, but it will sometimes flub like the hammer, and if that happens, YOU will slow down instead. So it's like grabbing "dynamite"!
* Soccer Ball - Cannot be countered or caught and it turns into fire when you kick it.
* Sandbag - When you beat him up other items come out


Music:

* BGM siege warfare, "the theme of Fire" and the fiery "Bern superpower" (placeholder, will correct to real english)

What I'd really like to see is stages from the original Smash Bros. make a comeback. Saffron City and Hyrule Castle in particular. Nevertheless it's still cool to see all these stages returning, and who knows, maybe we will end up getting some original stages after all.

Saffron City and Hyrule Castle are pretty much universally the favourites from the original Smash, so it'd be great to see them in (I also prefer the larger Sector Z to Corneria), though with the stage builder, Hyrule Castle shouldn't be too hard to make! (Save the tornadoes, which I didn't particularly like anyway)

What I'd really like to see is stages from the original Smash Bros. make a comeback. Saffron City and Hyrule Castle in particular. Nevertheless it's still cool to see all these stages returning, and who knows, maybe we will end up getting some original stages after all.

I doubt stages from the first game will be in just because they wouldn't look right against all the 128 bit characters. I also doubt they could be easily ported in like the melee levels. There is always the possibility of them completely remaking levels with updated graphics and stuff though.

Hmm, they've ported some of my least favourite levels from Melee. I hated Onett and I've never liked any of Samus' levels. Basically, I hated the levels that granted cheap kills just because there was so much shit happening in the background. And Rainbow Cruise was just annoying. The levels where you had to follow the levels around were just stupid.

Luckily, with the level editor, you can possibly remake some of the levels from the original if you really want to.

Amazon are dirty whores who just want your money. Play won't charge you until they actually post your tat. Play are more reputable.

Plus the US don't get it until Feb 10th, and it is incredibly rare for the Europeans to get games before the Yanks (only example I can think of at the top of my head is Z.O.E.).

Also, the game's average customer's review score is 4.5 stars. Nice one, you arrogant cocks, you haven't even played it yet.

My thoughts:

Nayru's Love was invincibility.
Farore's Wind was teleportation.
Din's Fire was a powerful fire attack.

So I imagine they'll be the same as SSBM.

Twilight Change might mean she has a powerful twilight form, or she becomes like when she was possessed by Ganondorf. I don't know really.

Light Arrows looks juicy. Not sure how it will play out at the moment, but I imagine it will either be using the targeting reticule as per Dragoon/Snake's Final Smash (unlikely, since it is probably coming from side-on) or she will shoot a volley of high-damage arrows at her opponents, possibly being controlled by the player via moving the control stick to aim.

OMG SMRPG'S ARROW RAIN CONFIRRRMED. Light Arrows really seems appropriate, I mean that's always been Zelda's big thing (esp. in TP), though the "Twilight Change" is interesting... For some reason that strikes me more as sounding like a shift to something like her possessed form (OR MIDNA LOLZORS) rather than Sheik... Only time will tell!

About the "Twilight Change" thing...

Zelda's four specials are listed on the front of the card as "Eldin's Fire, Lanaryu's Love, Faron's Wind, and Twilight Change." The thing is, Zelda doesn't have a twilight change in Twilight Princess. The translation for the final Special move reads: "Twilight Change (Original Twilight version of Sheik transformation)" A rough translation says "Twilight version Seek Transformation". Seek is the Japanese version of Sheik, so there ya go. We have multiple translators confirming this.

EDIT: I think I should mention that I've done some more reading, and discovered that this whole "Twlight Change" thing is actually a source of bitter controversy in the Smash community...I guess we'll all see the truth about it soon enough.

Unfortunately, somebody at Smash World Forum got the actual Zelda card...and it actually DOESN'T mentioned her Down-B at all, so Shiek's "Brawl" status is still up-in-the-air!

It's two different screenshots. One is of a card, the other is of a magazine. Plus Zelda's poses are different, so even if the magazine has got a card, it obviously has a different card.

Still, until I have the game in my hand, it doesn't really matter. Plus Zelda wasn't really one of my fave characters.

There's been a huge debate over this. One side says that "Sheik transformation" just refers to Zelda's move from Melee, and this is a Twilight Princess version of it, as in Zelda transforms into someone different (Midna being the common speculation). The other side says that they woudn't have used the word Sheik unless Zelda actually transformed into Sheik, not to mention the leak from a while back that Sheik and Gannondorf models were being worked on for Brawl. It doesn't matter to me though, we'll all know in a couple weeks anyway.
