The original versions' names came second in FireRed and LeafGreen so DuskGold and DawnSilver make sense, not sure where everyone was getting GoldSun and SilverMoon from. I personally would love the idea of Gold/Silver remakes, not just for the nostalgia, but given the capacity of a DS card, they could probably fit a fully fleshed out Johto and Kanto in the game (some beta areas of Johto had to be removed because Kanto wouldn't have fit on the GBC cartridge otherwise).

Although I don't think this is likely, my original vision of the GSC remakes was that one version would be practically identical to the originals (except for updated graphics, fleshed out regions, etc.), while the other would have some storyline differences and different layouts for caves to make it a fresh experience. I'm thinking along the lines of in DawnSilver, it was the Tin Tower that burned down instead of the Brass Tower, and Ho-oh that flew away. This version of the story could even be linked with the legendary birds, instead of the beasts, (since the game is based around Lugia). The birds could appear in the ruins of the Tin Tower and appear randomly in Johto after you find them. That way the people looking for nostalgia have one option and the people looking for a new experience have another.

You misread my post. I'm not saying DuskGold and DawnSilver ought to be GoldDusk and SilverDawn; I'm saying they ought to be DawnGold and DuskSilver. You (and Bulbapedia, I guess) are associating the colors with the wrong times of day.

Actually, my comment wasn't about you, it was about how everyone got GoldSun, SilverMoon, and similar names backwards in general (which Mr. Pikachu answered). Also, yeah I agree that Gold should be DawnGold and Silver should be DuskSilver, that just makes more sense. I was just using the names that have been trademarked.

You're positive it's DuskGold and DawnSilver that were trademarked? I coulda sworn I heard otherwise...

Really I am just going off the Bulbapedia article, and pretty much the name that people at Serebii believe it is. The only reason I can think of it being Dusk Gold, is that unlike Dawn, the sun and sky is a bit more golden at dusk. Then again it just seems like it is all a jack ass way to fit in DS into the title.

To answer your question, the GoldSky/SilverSea idea was proposed because of my comment regarding a TCG set that had recently been released. I did mention in that post that to keep with tradition, the names would be reversed... and that SeaSilver just sounded awful. That's probably why people decided on ignoring the reversal standard.
