I would think Militarizing the border would be a obvious step if you closed it.
Well it doesn't help that Mexico is really no better than a 3rd World Country. And really is not equipped to handle it.Originally Posted by Blademaster

Neither of those ideas would stop a massive out break of Mexico from being spread into the United States by thousands if not millions of fleeing Mexicans trying to out run the disease.
The idea of closing and militarizing the border isn't to stop Illegals, but to keep the virus from breaking out on a massive scale over here by so many people fleeing their country.
Those Mexicans are pretty dumb if they think they can outrun an airborn virus
And it's far too late for closing the borders since a kid has already died in Texas. Run, Ryan, run!
It's also not just gonna be spread by Mexicans trying to escape their country... Come on, the UK already has it from people just flying back from their holidays, you can't just go blaming a pandemic on the Mexicans because you don't like them![]()

It'd be more rational if nativists hadn't been trying to close the border for decades.
This flu is short-term, the drug war and immigration is long term. We need to start a flu vaccination now as opposed to closing our doors and hoping we have a good seal on our windows.
Well granted closing the border to drastically eliminate Illegal Immigration and a influx of drugs and crime would be a great thing. But seeing how Mexico is going to quickly turn into a breeding ground for this virus, a short term closure may be needed. As for the flu vaccinations, I believe the news reported that the current vaccinations were not created to repeal the Swine Flu.
