Old logo, if you so desire:

If that is used, then maybe could be used for the main site? Or something like that?

    Good Misc logo:

Glad you found the old images, shaz. Unfortunately they look kinda…blah. So keeping the same look and feel, I updated them so they don't have that low-color graininess:

I could keep going and update/create new, better-looking images for the remaining image spots.

I wish I could, but I'm afraid I can't replace files on the server. Just add new ones with different names. :-/

Thanks for digging for the images! I'll put them in their right place later, after I return from my Chinese caligraphy class.

Alright then, is there any way to at least set the "default icon" to be the clearer Post icon? (That's the one I set for this post, btw.)

Bummer…I guess we could see if Kevin could replace the files on the server, possibly.

Back on the other images to replace, what other images are there that need to have an "updated" look to them? I know the Edit and Quote buttons are a couple, but I don't have the originals from '00-'03 to make an updated copy of them. I'm also sure there are a couple buttons normal members don't see (like moderate, split/join post, etc.) that I would want to update as well.

Also, if they need to be in GIF format I can re-save them as such. PNG just looks a heck of a lot better.

The old buttons can be seen here, but they were much smaller than the current ones.

Alright, well…I took a shot anyway. These are all the same size as the ones that are currently up.

Sooo, yeah. In case you do want to replace them.

Ooh, and the default post icon set got replaced! Woo! Thanks to whoever got that to work!

All I did was disable the default set. It's still there, you just can't use it.

I think the "edit" button looks a bit weird, with the lowercase e and uppercase D. And it's hard to tell what the "multi-quote" and "Quick reply" buttons are. I do like the Quote one, though. I don't know, what does everyone think? I'll go with whatever most people want.

Yeah, I see the theme of capitalizing the consonants, but "e" should be capitalized too otherwise it just looks weird.

To be honest, it's hard to tell what the multi-quote and quick reply buttons are right now. I didn't use them for the longest time because I had to hover over them to find out what they did. As for the "eDiT" button, I did it that way because the general theme with the old New Topic and Post Reply buttons was that the consonants were all uppercase while the vowels were all lowercase. I'll whip up an alternate form with a capital E right now…

EDIT: I agree, much better looking.

That's better. I'd say in general, if you're going to do mixed case like that, the first letter should always be capitalized, otherwise it just looks weird.

I, for one, am pleased to see such great changes on TPM in recent weeks. Thank you, Gabi, for being a highly active and proficient administrator thus far!

    EDIT: Now to change

I find it a tad sad we have had these default icons intended for a white background forum for four-five years.

    Aww!

It takes time and effort, but it feels great to be helping restore TPM to its former glory. And knowing you people like it feels even better.

But now I'm going to bed. I'll check this topic again after the sun has risen.

I think the buttons would look better with some sort of rounded corners or something.

Well, the original Post/Reply buttons weren't rounded, so this brings back the nostalgia factor for most of us. As for the new buttons I made, I simply modeled them after the Post/Reply buttons, hence the lack of round. Plus the lack of round makes it a LOT easier to keep it useable on dark backgrounds without adding "fringe" to them.

Anyway, as my last bout of "I'm working on images" for the night, I present to you:

    "navbits finallink ltr"
    "navbits start"
    new PM
    old PM
    replied-to PM
    forwarded PM
    Send PM
    Stats
    Who's Online

Ok, so Stats was kind of a cop-out, but it works. >.>' Not sure exactly if the "navbits" will work nicely, but I figured since shazza listed one I should get both. The PM Pokéball I toned the colors to match the rest of the Pokéballs on the site. And I hope people like my idea for the Who's Online icon; I felt that one was pretty crafty.

EDIT: Last post of the night for me. Sleep is overtaking me…

I do like the Who's Online idea. Very clever indeed.

Sorry to be pedantic, but one more thing:

and to a lesser extent, have this shitty black outline, and the red one actually has black in the pokeballs. Get what I'm saying, guys!?

Now all we need is for myself to be promoted back to moderator status and we're set ;-).

Looking good on some of those icon sets VP. I do however have a suggestion for the trainer sprites you plan on using for "who's online." If I'm not mistaken it looks like the sprites your using are FR/LG Gary, RSE's male trainer and FR/LG's female trainer. Personally I think we need to go slightly newer than 3rd gen. Why not go with the HS/SS male/female trainer sprites and the rival? Or as another option perhaps a trio of professors that have appeared in 4th gen games? If you go that route it'll be Oak, Elm and Rowan.

Also has anyone considered letting some of the different forums have their own personal banners at the top again? I always thought it was a nice touch. However while some of the old banners would work for that I personally think that they should also be redone (Mewtwo and birds aside). The reason for this being that TPM has changed quite a bit over the years. While the boards may be going back to their roots so to speak, bear in mind the fact that we've got at least a few boards that didn't exist back in the day. The prime example of this would be Mt. Moon.

As far as individual banners go here's my suggestion. For some perhaps hand drawn or computer generated art. For others maybe a real picture that can be submitted and then have our font edited in later. I was thinking of trying to get a pic for the video game board. Perhaps something along the lines of having different controllers and maybe a PSP or DS in the shot as well. That would be an absolutely perfect shot for that board I think.

EDIT-On another note I know we were talking about perhaps expanding TCG to be a full on forum for all things tabletop (D&D, other card games, ect). Now a few years back I did see a few YGO topics and me and Frank would talk DBZ CCG in those forums back then. However it seems like it shifted back to pure Pokémon TCG. It'd be nice to actually see it expand again? Any idea on if we're going to go the full route on that? Also if we do go that route I'm willing to give tips and advice is anyone actually still plays DBZ. Despite it being a dead game it's still a ton of fun and if you know where to look you can pick up the cards for it fairly cheap now (thanks for fucking it up during the "relaunch" Score!)

The main reason for using those sprites is they are smaller than the 4th gen trainer sprites, therefore I could fit more in the same size image. If I were to make it larger I should be able to fit some 4th gen trainer sprites in the image.

Well, drawing images like that would require someone else because my expertise lies in editing together images that already exist. However, if I get some images (including maybe an updated "mewtwo and birds" image) I can make the overall look of the image fit the board (black BG, matching lettering, etc.).

EDIT: I'm having great difficulty making the Pokéball new/old/hot thread icons have any semblance of cleanliness when it comes to the fringe. Unfortunately I've also had zero luck trying to find a fresh Pokéball image that looks like the current one, as well as any that would be an adequate substitute.
