It's really a let down compared to previous Stadium games.

What really annoys me about this game is that they have recycled the Pokémon animations and attacks from the N64 days and that there is no decent single player mode at all. Back on Stadium on the N64 you could at least battle all the gym leaders from R/B/Y ... I'd have loved to see that return, taking on the gym leaders of the previous games. Oh well.

Good enough to battle a friend - but the online mode is really weak too.

PBR does suck and after hearing all the bad things about it I'm glad I didn't get it. I tried it out on my friend's Wii and I was like

Because Pokemon Battle Revolution incorporates the DS into the action and introduces online play to the Wii in the US, it should be more exciting. But when you get down to it, the action itself is straightforward and single-minded to a fault. This may be a forgivable shortcoming if the very idea of seeing the Pokemon you've spent hours and hours training in Diamond or Pearl is enough to get you excited, but for everyone else, it's even less appealing than a real Pokemon game.

That's the thing; back in Pokemon Stadium, this was a new and novel concept. From those tiny little blurry sprites to big, beautiful 3D - finally our beloved monsters were coming to life! Fast forward some ten years later, and the Pokemon sprites are no longer quite so hard to look at - seeing them in (recycled) 3D doesn't do anything for us anymore.

...But it'll continue to sell because it's Pokemon, and as a result, we'll continue to get the same crap. It's a viscous cycle, you see.

The lack of features is awful. Things like the mini-games, R2 mode, emulation, console box, and whatever else stadium games have that PBR didn't are a part of what made Stadium good.

That, and Genius Sonority or whatever the fuck their name is can onle make shit games. Hal Labs were the dogs bollocks.
