At the moment, I think we have 2 gym leaders, and 4 temporary standins until they get their asses kicked so hard they don't know what happened. Then, once they all run home crying, we'll get 6 gym leaders again.

Blade, I'm not a gym leader. The 2 real gym leaders are Ceb and DL. The 4 fillins are Weas, Denz, Dogfish and Ayeun. Please note that the only reason I include weas in there is because she's never around, so matches are effectively pointless coz they will get canned. After I beat you, I'll start looking at the other 3. I've already beaten ayeun twice for funzies, and I'm pretty sure I beat Denz once before. I've got a strong disadvantage against Dogfish in a normal, but even then, I could be doing a lot worse. (4x weakness, stab'd moves from him, and I have nothing super-effective against him. At least my stab'd moves aren't resisted/immuned)

Thoughts on the current state of reffing? Is this overall lack of reffing power just a cyclic thing that happens every now and then and will work itself out?

Yeah. It goes through a lull. Currently, this is not as bad as it was a few years ago-where there would be a ton of hanging matches. It'll keel out 'round November, after Midterms and all-then December rolls around and we'll get a ridiculous spike in activity through the New Year. So right now, I'd just say roll with the slowness, it'll pick up.
