Well, I have to say that this is a typo, but one made with a purpose. It's a direct translation of the Spanish phrase "nene chiquito".

Its a phrase used to stretch the fact that Wolf is like a kid in that topic: he gets nervous, hides, and is most of the time afraid of it. But in spite of this, he wishes to learn.

Compared to the term "kid", "children" is often used to express "innocence"; and the adjective stretches this fact. You could say that it is similar to the phrase: "He/she is like a little bunny"

Well, I hope this clears things up, instead of the opposite.
