Make an iOS version and then call me
Make an iOS version and then call me
Pretty cool. I haven't dipped into mobile development yet myself. There's a big reason for that...
iOS development is ridiculous. I wasn't really interested in mobile development in the past, so it didn't matter what kind of phone I got. I ended up getting an iPhone because it's what everyone else in my family has. I looked into iOS development not too long ago though. Apparently:
-You have to have a Mac if you want to develop for free
-Did I say free? I meant you only have to pay that annual development fee to Apple so you can get your app on the App Store
-You can write it and test it in an emulator for free though, you know, as long as you have a Mac
-Did you want to test your app on an actual iOS device without publishing it to the App Store? Nope, still gotta pay that fee.
Got all that down? Good, keep in mind:
-You don't have access to all of the features of the device. Apple can create apps that can do things that your apps will never be able to do.
-Your app will need to be reviewed by Apple before it ever sees the light of day on the App Store, so don't do anything Apple doesn't allow.
-Like, you know create a web browser that uses a rendering engine other than Apple's own WebKit. Yes, I'm serious.
-Apple can pretty much block your app for whatever reason. Such as, if your app is meant to support an accessory that Apple now has a competitor to.
