Of course, this was the same school that rejected Harry Potter for teaching witchcraft, but willingly accepted LotR.... Figure that out...

Personally, I don't want anime shows to be editted. I want to see them in its original form. If people are offended by what YuGiOh shows, or any anime series in fact, there is an easy solution to this problem... DON'T WATCH!! Everyone wins then. Parents don't have to worry about the shows' "influence", and anime fans can still watch their shows...

And speaking of Pokemon - wasn't this issue also thrown at Pokemon a long time ago? A bunch of crazy mothers and religious nuts claiming Pokemon was witchcraft got into a snit until the Pope finally called it off.

Gandalf and Saruman are about the only wizards that are widely mentioned (unless you're reading the silmarillion). The center of the LoTR story is around a war in middle earth. The center of the harry potter story is the goings-on at the hogwarts school of witchcraft and wizardry.

Besides, it was clearly established that Gandalf was the good guy and Sarumon was evil, so it's less witchcraft and more of a euphamism for god vs the devil. Well, that's probably what the christians who loved LoTR when they read it told themselves.

I don't see how the names of the cards are "witch craft"

I doubt it's the cards, but magic in the show in general. The spirit of a pharoah living in a puzzle, magical items, etc.
Honestly in the back of my mind I knew this sort of thing would happen eventually. Given than it's been over a year without any major complaints (that I've heard of) it's a bit odd that it wasn't until now people strted complaining.
