    Default unusually low stats

all 6 of my sapphire team (at level 100 btw) have extremely low stats in the high 100s to the low - mid 200s... one or 2 of them have like one or two actual good stats but thats it. its annoying cuz in collosseum they get dominated and i can barely beat the first 2 trainers in the battle mode. ive given up playing anymore. most of their max stats are supposed to be in the high 200s to low 300s, around there. i kno that it takes a while to get them to their actual "max stats", but this low stat thing has never happened in any of my other games.

just wondering if anyone knows anything about this, thanks.

Well, do you really understand how stats work? If you think any given pokémon can be raised to its species' max stats, then you don't know how stats work.

There are five components to a pokémon's stats. Two are species and level. These are obvious. A third is nature; your pokémon's Natures (such as Brave or Hasty) boost one stat by 10% and lower another by 10%, except for five natures that raise and lower the same stat and thus do nothing. I think most listings of "max stats" assume these neutral natures, but if the max stats you know of assume a boosting nature for each stat, well, that's obviously not possible on a single pokémon.

The other two factors are hidden values. First are Individual Values (IVs, also known as DVs for no real reason.) IVs represent inborn talent on the part of the pokémon, and they are what make one wild pokémon different from another of the same species, aside from natures. A pokémon has six IVs, one each for Hit Points, Attack, Defense, Special Attack, Special Defense and Speed. An IV can be any number between 0 and 31; the higher the IV, the better the stat will be. The difference is more noticable at higher levels. In your case, you might have been unlucky enough to catch pokémon with generally poor IVs; since there's no way to change a pokémon's IVs, the only solution is to catch different pokémon of the same species, raise them up to the same level and see how their stats compare.

The second hidden value is Effort Values, EVs. These represent the specific sort of training your pokémon have had. If you have a pokémon battle lots of speedy pokémon, for example, its Speed will develop faster than usual. Like IVs, there is an EV for each stat. Every time your pokémon earns EXP from a battle, it also earns EP, Effort Points that go toward building its EVs. The species (not the level) of your opponent determines the number and type of EP you earn. Also, the supplements HP Up, Protein, Iron, Calcium, Zinc and Carbos grant extra EP. If you want to make your pokémon the best it can be, you should be careful about how you build its EVs, because there are caps on how high they can go: each EV can go only as high as 255 (and, actually, the stat stops improving after 252,) and you can only collect 510 EP in all; that means you can max out only two stats on any one pokémon. If you're raising a pokémon with all physical attacks, and it winds up collecting a lot of Special Attack EP, that pokémon's lost a lot of its potential.

What are the pokémon in question, and what are their stats (including Nature)? We can tell you where they rate.

Most likely you haven't maxed out effort, though. Feed them power-ups like Protein.

yea i kno they cant all be raised to the species actual max stats. i did hear a few things about the DVs and never really understood much about them, but i think u just cleared it up for me a little, thanks!

yea i also highly doubt theyre anywhere near maxed out (hopefully). i mean a good amount of stats seem pretty normal, but theres alot that seem abnormally low. heres the pokes and their stats (spd = speed, im sure u can figure out the rest):

    a: 179
    d: 220
    sa: 235

    spd: 293

oh btw not only are they at level 100 but ive also given them the max amount of minerals they can take too (protein, carbs, etc). i dunno maybe i just havent battled them enough, or what? they just seem extra low to me, in all the previous games they were never this low. oh and i was talking to a friend of mine about this who also has sapphire and he said he has the same problem. maybe its just the way RS is? kinda annoying if its true...

but id appreciate any help with this, thanks again.

ps- if you guys need a pokedex to compare with i have a really good one that lists every possible max stat (including the natures etc) but im pretty sure theres no advertising on here so i guess just ask if u need to.

It's not about that and max stats and such. All pokemons stats revolves around EVs and IVs and of course natures which is best when you know them of by heart as before I knew them off by heart keeping a guide handy was a pain in the ass. Learning those is important for learning about pokemon stats. You can just hop over to other sites such as serebii, gamefaqs or even my site (not recommended, it's not as good as the others). Then come back and we can help you out more.

They are right, u see u haven't considered the little fact that the pokemon u have caught have low IVs. The only way to get the max stats, considering u put all EVs u can to that stat, u need to have an IV of 31. That means, your stats are quite normal, u should try finding some pokemon with higher IVs that when taken to level 100 will be much stronger, if u can (but will take hell a lot of time) look for pokemon with IVs highers than 25 in all stats. If u dunno how to do this just catch it, write his stats down, give him some rare candies, right down the growth of the stats per level (but don't fight). Then go to serebii and check the IVs formula and viola!! U now know ur pokemons IVs.
