Hey there, Charles! Good to see you here in TCG!

You're right about one thing; these cards are very old. I'm guessing you don't have many of the new ones, so it's difficult to make suggestions about replacements and such.

I will say, however, that you seem to have a lot of really thin evolutionary lines... I count six, all of which are in two stages (Magikarp/Gyarados, Psyduck/Dark Golduck, Natu/Xatu, Wingull/Pelipper, Chinchou/Lanturn, Voltorb/Dark Electrode). If possible, you should drop some of these Pokemon in order to strengthen the other evo lines. That'll make it easier to get the evolution you need when you need it. If you could whittle it down to about three or four lines, it might work considerably better. Also, reducing the deck from three types (Psychic, Water, Electric) to two would also help you with energies.

That said, it's clear that there's no real tactic here, so I'm not going to lie and say you'll be able to legitimately compete with high-level decks. But you should at least be able to increase the effectiveness of what you've set up if you carefully reduce the number of evo lines. I assume that's what you wanted. ^_^

Well, personally I don't know what to do with the deck. You're not gonna play with it, and there's no strategy to build off either, and you didn't state what you're gonna do with the deck.

So......................... what were we talking about again?

Anyway, just to drop in a few advice, there's no such thing as cards being too old to be played with; hell, the older cards are way better than the current cards. And there's the problem of having too many evo lines. 2 is usally max for a deck of any level of competition. Then again, you did say it's just for fun, so, yeah.

Anyway, having multiples of a card would increase the chances of getting it, so having, say, only one oak would mean you have 1/60 chance of obtaining the card, and that ain't high. Compared to having 4 of it, which would give you a 1/15 (25%) chance.

Pretty good adjustment. I'd be wary, however, of relying too much on stalling for time with high-HP tanks. While that can be somewhat effective in modified play, your deck will only be legal for unlimited, where Gust of Wind is always a threat. I recommend adding some Celio's Networks and perhaps a Rare Candy or two (depending on how quickly you think you need to get Ampharos out).

I haven't checked strengths and weaknesses, but your Pokemon should be okay as far as I know. Water and Electric Pokemon don't usually have many common flaws.

    Cool Re: Mind Shockwaves (PKMN)

Ok thanks for the help Mr. Pikachu, anyways here is Idea for a deck...

    Snaping Dragon

    Feraligatr X2 (D)
    Croconaw x3 (D)
    Totodile x4 (D)
    Ampharos X 2 (D)
    Flaaffy X3 (D)
    Mareep x4 (D)
    Cloyster X2 (D)
    Shellder x4 (D)
    Holon Fammer x3
    Holon Lass x3
    TV Reporter x4
    Professor Elm's Training Method x4
    Celio's Networks x4
    Fighting Energy x9
    Lightning Energy x9

the basic Idea is to have both Feraligatr and Ampharos lay a smack down on my opponets as Cloyster Protect my bench, however one flow I see is Stuff that shuts down poké-powers/bodies...

This looks much better. You have a few combo ideas here, and that makes a major difference. But there are still some things that you might be able to polish a bit, as is always the case with any deck, really.

Let's begin with Cloyster. To be honest, I'm not so sure about using it in this deck. Bench attacks aren't typically a major threat, even with the possibility of a sniping Steelix. It's simply not as likely without Blastoise ex, and there are many different ways to break alternate combos. (For instance, one could try using Mew ex and Meganium ex, but Mew's low HP makes that tricky.) The other reason to use it is to set up a total lock if you're playing a stall deck with fossil rotation, but that's not your strategy. So you may want to drop that line, as it isn't all that good here.

If you drop Cloyster and Shellder, that also reduces your deck to two lines (and eliminates the Fighting type); if you'd like to have three, you have many options for replacement Pokemon. But let's skip that for now and look further into your theme.

The idea of combining Ampharos and Feraligatr has potential. I'll need to check, but if you can stack Feraligatr's Pokebody then you may want to add one or even two more to your deck. But you have a little problem with the lack of instant evolution-boosting Trainers. With two evolution lines that have three stages each, you should really play a couple of Rare Candies if you have them. That will also give you the option of increasing the upper evolutions without doing the same for the middle ones, so you can play 4-3-4 lines instead of 4-3-2. It's a good tactic, and it's the heart of this deck, so make full use of it!

You may have a few too many Pokemon search cards, though. I would drop some of them to make room for other cards; specifically, lose a few (or all) of the Elm's Research cards. They're best when used to find ex evolutions, but since you're not playing any of those, you can just use Celio's Network instead. The four Celio's may be enough, though you should test it.

I don't see any real problems with the rest, though you might consider swapping some of your Trainer set for a Holon Engine combination. (If you don't know what that is, feel free to ask and you'll get your answer. This post, though, is already long enough.) It's pretty much up to your personal preference. This set may work well enough that it wouldn't make any difference.

For your third evolutionary line... since you may have some problems getting the cards you need when you need them, playing a Magcargo (DX) line may be wise if you have it. The Smooth Over ability will allow you to take a card from your deck and place it on top every turn; if you combine it with TV Reporter then you can get that card immediately. Plus, Magcargo will count as a D Pokemon whenever Ampharos is in play, so it can get the power boost from Feraligatr. If you don't have a Magcargo, just look at the cards you have and see for yourself what you think would support your other Pokemon.

You will need to add some other energy for Magcargo, as you would for any other Pokemon you might use in that spot. For Magcargo, I'd recommend Rainbow/Multi energies, depending on what you have. (Multi would be better in this case.) Or you can just play Fire energy, though nine copies is a bit much since each Magcargo only needs one.

That's pretty much it. Now you have a pretty good theme; the next step is to refine it so that it works faster and better. Good start!

Try reading the first post. And think about cash. Or the lack of it.
