A HolyLightning Production
brought to you by the fractured brains of Weasel and Crystal
The man was quiet, sitting almost entirely alone on the train that was making its way to sector six. His nerves were shot, and mind tired. Exhaustion brought on a couple of strange sensations, the most prominent being regret, paranoia, and anger. Slowly he sat up. His stomach twisted into knots when he saw the first stop coming. Why was he afraid? It wasn’t like he had anything to live for any more, ShinRa had made sure of that. His wife had conveniently disappeared after her public announcement of her distaste for the super-power, and his children soon after. Was he to be next? No, he would make sure of that. If he was going to disappear, he would do so with meaning, with justification.
The train slowed and came to a halt, and he got off. His chest was heavy and his heart sore. How he wished with all his heart things could’ve been different; maybe if Maria had just kept quiet, if his children had believed him that she had went on vacation… He wouldn’t be doing this; he wouldn’t have left Midgar to…
Oh well, it didn’t matter now. There was crowd in front of him, gathered in front of a man announcing the successes of ShinRa. So many people clapped and cheered, others just seemed to be half-listening, probably waiting for a train. Did the announcer really believe what he was going on about? Did he truly know anything about the dark company that took people and families away when they had a different opinion? Slowly, the distraught man, barely able to hold his composure, slid up through the crowd so he could clearly see the one supporting the monstrous industry.
His name was Ren.
He had a wife, and three children.
That day in the train station, he ceased to exist.
But he had “died” four months earlier, when his family had disappeared without a trace. So he didn’t care that the bomb strapped to his chest killed thousands, and rocked the surrounding sectors.
Ren was not the first to give his life to weaken ShinRa.
And he would not be the last.

“Sir the new sensors on the trains and border crossings have been successfully installed.”
The office was quiet; the ticking of the clock was all that dared make a sound after that voice had spoken. The blinds over the windows were drawn and standing in each corner were tough, intimidating people.
“Good.”
“They’ve already stopped ten infiltrators.”
“… Ten?”
“Yes sir.” The man talking bowed his head as the chair swivelled around. “All had explosives equal to the power of the Sector 6 bombing.”
“War…”
“P-pardon sir?”
The man, far older than the one reporting the information, stared at the assistant with cold, calculating eyes before rising to his feet. His suit was clean and crisp, a lovely white that contrasted with the dark tones of the office.
“They want war, whoever these terrorists are…” The man tapped the ashes from his cigar. “Eventually they’ll reveal themselves; it’s only a matter of time…” He snapped his fingers.
“We’ll increase the intake in the SOLDIER project.”
“Sir?”
“When they opt for war, we’ll be ready… Do you remember that suggestion a while ago? About the Academy?”
“Yes, you said it was-“
“I wasn’t aware,” he interrupted the assistant who was about to mistakenly make his boss look like a moron. “That there was a faction intending to wage war. Proceed with the plans.”
“Yes sir.”

Alright peons! Here’s how this jig goes. This here’s a SOLDIER RPG. This means it’s set in the FFVII world - although it’s AU. It will draw from the entire FFVII Compilation canon, but probably most heavily from Crisis Core.
Essentially, Fracture is a school RPG, but with a difference! Yes indeed! You are a member of SOLDIER, drafted in to serve as reinforcements for the ever-raging war between ShinRa and Avalanche. Your options for characters are as such;
SOLDIER Third Class: Third Class is where the new recruits begin. There are unlimited places for Third Class characters, unlike the two higher ones. Third Class characters are allowed one status materia and two elemental ones, all basic stage, and one basic weapon - nothing too fancy please, you’re all drafted in soldiers, there wouldn’t be any room for your own special, super uber weapon. That’s for the Firsts. Thirds are given one basic level summon materia when they start, for their summon training - they can have 4 materia altogether, 5 including the obligatory Cure.
Uniform is mostly black - blue trim and cape, etc. for Thirds.
SOLDIER Second Class: SOLDIERs who have passed their test and advanced to the next level of their training. We are allowing a set number of Second Class characters; five in total. Second Class characters get two status materia and three elemental materia (one of these can be the non-elementals if so wished) at the second stage. Their weapons have more freedom - a slight amount of customisation is allowed - and they can dual wield if they choose. Second Class characters are also given one second level summon materia, as well as their basic from Third Class - they therefore are allowed a total of 7 materia, 8 including the obligatory Cure.
Same black uniform, but with red trim etc. for Seconds.
SOLDIER First Class: The highest class of SOLDIERs. First Class characters are your teachers and squad leaders - they carry out all orders given from the higher-ups and expect unflinching loyalty from all those below them. There are three spaces for First Class characters, all together. First Class characters start with their choice of Hell Element materia (any of the three, or all three if they want) and any of the other Elemental, Status or Summons, and an original weapon of their choice. Firsts can therefore have, technically, as many materia as they want.
Firsts get green trim to their uniforms, if they choose to wear them.
With regards to the Cure materia section - all SOLDIER characters can choose one to start with, basic level, and then gain more as the RPG progresses. It’d be nice if we had a mixture, so that the mission parties have a spread - you know, so that someone has Esuna, someone has Haste, etc. On all missions, characters can choose their own clothing.
Uniform is similar to this, only without the skirts for women. Equality in SOLDIER! They have those capes, only they’re wrapped more about the neck, generally. See Class for what colour capes, etc. are.
Your characters begin on their first day at SOLDIER - classes, training etc. commence right away after orientation, which takes up the first half of the day.
If anyone wants to be something outside of a SOLDIER member, or just to bend the rules a little, then PM/IM either me or Crystal Tears and we’ll discuss your options and whether we think it’s viable. If there’s a lot of demand, we can open up a few more slots for Seconds and Firsts, too.

Weaslor’s Charrie
Name: Creed (SHUT UP at least I didn’t just copy/pasta Angeal)
Age: 34
Sex: Male
Class: First
Appearance: Creed is tall - around, oh, 6’5”, and rather heavily muscled, but not so much that he looks like a brick shithouse. His eyes are piercingly hazel, with mako-blue hints, and a pretty intense stare going on. He has much facial foliage, including beard and sideburns (bugger grips, har har) and large eyebrows. Creed’s hair is shaved short and military, like the proverbial brush - only it’s soft and nice to rub. XD It’s such a dark brown it could be called black, and there’s roughly an inch of it. His hair joins the beard/sideburns all the way. He has a habit of raising one eyebrow quizzically, and a quirk to his mouth that occasionally looks like he’s annoyed about something.
His uniform is a black turtleneck tank top over the top of a forest green shirt; baggyish green pants, and heavy duty black boots. Over the top he wears a huge black greatcoat. He won’t be parted from this coat, even if the weather’s stupidly hot, and he fights in it as if it’s not there. No hindrance at all.
He has a series of scars all over his body from battles long past - one a diagonal slash across his left eye (he can still see out of it, though), a series of small notches up both forearms, and a large, cross-shaped one all across his back that he refuses to talk about to anyone who may ask.
I’m now going to be cheeky and unoriginal and show you a picture of what Creed sort of looks like, in the face/build etc. Not exactly the same - nor is he the same character as Victor.
[phwoar] [and again]
Personality: Creed doesn’t, well, talk much. He’s economical with his words, and always prefers to say what he means in as little as possible. Creed isn’t his real name, but you’ll be damned if you can get that information out of him. He loves a fight, and his energy is almost boundless. He practices weaponry for two hours every day, and is completely devoted to his teaching and SOLDIER. You’d be forgiven for thinking he was your usual ShinRa dog, because he’s not quick to mouth off his opinions on any subject - but though he may give off an air of not being a thinker, Creed has a quick mind. He’s far from slow.
Creed is a stubborn bastard. If he believes in something, he will defend it to the end, but that’s not to say he’s not open to persuasion - you just have to be very VERY good at it. Creed is the teacher of Combat and Weaponry in SOLDIER - therefore, he is exceptional at all forms of weapon-fighting; swords, axes, claws, bare-knuckles, staves/rods/poles, guns, bows, spears, you name it, he's mastered it. He disapproves, however, of magic in principle. The only concessions he will make are Cure spells (essential), Berserk (his favourite thing in the world, possibly), and his precious Hell Thundaga. No-one knows precisely why Creed loves his lightning so much. If asked, he says he likes licking batteries. And then he'll glower at you. Odin he allows cos, well, Odin is a badass dude with a badass sword on an even badasser horse; Quetzacoatl he allows cos he likes to lick batteries.
Materia: Hell Thundaga, Regen, Berserk, Odin, and Quetzacoatl.
Weapon: Claws. Creed has a different set for each hand - on the right, he wears a Mythril Claw, which is two blades of mythril, each one razor sharp, brightest silver and around oh, five inches in length; and on the left he wears Wyvern Claws, which are similar to the mythril, only dark, hellish red in colour, one blade per knuckle, and about two inches in length.
Relationships: Trains often with Finn - they're sort of friends because of this. Has a snark-on-snark relationship with Mathias, and gets on quite well with Ash, although he disapproves of both their disciplines, really.
Other: Teaches Battling, yo. Will not refrain from beating people up if they’re cheeky/deserve it/look at him funny.
