Exclamation Mt. Moon for 6 months: Has it been successful?

We have now had a 'SPAM forum' now for half a year. We conjured up the idea in this thread, whereby I graced it with its present name, and it was created by the TPM God's relatively quickly. What has Mt. Moon done to activity? TPM as a whole? Is it as good as we hoped and envisioned, or is Mt.Moon actually becoming the cancer of TPM?

    Discuss.

It's opened the portal for a loose way of posting, it cures boredom and often gives us good laughs.

    There's too much hate, though.

Well a part of Mt. Moon was to troll for the pale of it. But I do agree that too much hate can make posting less enjoyable.

My main gripe, however, is using old memes and sometimes a lack of originality. This results in me prone to hate.

In the long run, though, the good has outweighed the bad.

It's been 6 months already? Time flies! I didn't have much hope for that forum at first, but now I think it's not as bad as I expected. I've even seen some good stuff in there. And what I don't like I can easily just ignore... except for a few photos, but fortunately I haven't seen any of those lately.

And being referred to as a God is disturbing.

I've never gone to Mt.Moon, so to me in that way it's failure. But I have horrible people skills, and mostly just stayed away.

I really liked Mt Moon when it first opened, it was interesting to be able to post casually without having to worry about censoring myself or following a lot of rules. It was also interesting to see an influx of topics that may never have surfaced on TPM otherwise. But now its losing its edge a bit, in part to the fact that the novelty has worn off but also because the topics being brought up are largely tired and dull. Many are an obvious attempt to gain attention and shock people, and some are insulting to other members. The responses to such topics arent much better, many are simply tired internet gimmicks or snide one liners designed to try and make the poster look 'cool' when its really just contrived and stupid.

I really liked the freedom of Mt Moon, but I would hate it if the only thing we could do with such a gift of freedom is turn it into every other internet cesspool of unimaginative people and gimmick-y shock-value topics. I think we can do much better than that. Heres for being optimistic!

The thing is, if what you want to do is not stupid, pointless and annoying, odds are you can do it elsewhere on the forums. The only difference Mt. Moon has is that you can SPAM and troll freely, which is why there's so much of that over there.

Thats true, but we can at least make stupid, pointless and annoying things that are interesting and different, right? Ok, maybe not I guess lol
Just sharing my opinion, I kinda knew it wouldnt exactly be a popular one -.-

It's pretty fun and occupies me when I come here. I've been able to let loose and take a few stabs at some people... but at the same time the endless tirade of insults and stupid internet memes are aggravating at times. I don't really browse much internet humor so I rarely know that something's a meme until I see multiple posts of it. I ended up talking some people a lot more than I would; a few people didn't impress me at all. I snapped on a couple people, but I think at least one of them really deserved to be yelled at via Internet for all the stupid or rude things they were saying (via Internet) right back at us.

And calling each other faggots gets old realllllllly fast.

I feel like Mt. Moon is mindless fun and some (not much) amusement. Conversely, it feels as if it's detracting from the rest of the site. TPM feels even less active now than it did before the site was relaunched. :/

I've been keeping an eye on it and the sorts of topics that pop up and I've got to say I didn't get it then and I don't get it now. I'm probably just too old to find it funny, but whatever, as long as you kids are having fun.

Mt. Moon has been ok in the sense that it does allow random posting and topics that just don't feel like they belong anywhere else in the forum. It's also been nice to actually not have to watch everything I say in there since the younger crowd shouldn't be there in the first place. However it's also semi-problematic in the fact that there have been at least a few cases of people posting topics that could just as easily been posted in a forum such as Misc.

Oh well.....while some would disagree I find it to be the forum of randomness and memes. Speaking of which we lost a good friend yesterday.......go pay your respects to the over 9000 meme since DBK's English dub finally fixed Saban's original mistranslation

I don't feel that it is affecting activity at all, good or bad.

Originality is always an issue...especially when you have twats posting old memes. These things should be treated like condoms, only use them once (unless you wash them out really well!).

This. Not about the whole kids thing, I just haven't been there enough to understand. I figured it's somewhat like /b/lite for TPM, but I got bored of that place 4 years ago...

So w/e, I don't visit this place enough to bother with Mt. Moon, as fun as it may be.
