Question about IP's

Why is it if you have the same IP address as your friend, they think you're them and not who you are? I got some false identification going on and harassment over my younger peers because of this. So please help.

If you have the same IP as someone else, that means you're on the same computer (or even the same LAN I believe). So if two people in the same house are sharing a computer, they'll have the same IP. Obviously though, there could be some suspicion that they're one person using the same account.

That said, as far as I know, nobody at TPM seriously thinks that you are the same person as anyone else here. If this really is a non-TPM-related issue, then I suggest you take it to wherever you are having this problem and work it out with them.

We at TPM are happy to help with any problems you are having with other members here at TPM. Your problems at other forums, however, belong at those forums.

On a related note, Jeff is right. I obviously can't tell but I'm pretty sure me, Sarah and Ben when he was here had the same IP since, duh, we live together Same internet = same IP.

It's happened everywhere I'm scared to bring my friends to a Kid Chatting place. Good thing that my brother's friend has had the Java disabled for a long time. What's going to happen if they bring it there? Hypothetical.

He is talking about the KOL chat room that I told him about a couple weeks ago but the Java applet hasn't been working. You can't access it through mIRC so it has to be from just the internet browser. Also I could change Michael's sig to something cute. I also looked and he has profanity on his Yahoo Answers profile. I'm like, "Was someone bothering him?"

You could try using 2 different browsers, but if you're on the same computer it will be hard for both of you to chat at the same time anyway. Maybe you can just prefix your messages with your names so that people know who's talking.

That may not work as the chat room only allows a certain amount of people to talk at a time. I had already given up on that chat room and now his mother is in control.
