Default Lance and the Red gyarados

All right... um... well, I just like Lance.

    But!

Is his hair pink or red in the Red gyarados episodes? it looked pink to me.
Also, I think his voice sounds kind of high... and some of the dubbed lines were stupid, but I digress.

What did everyone else think of the episiode?

Default Lance and the Red gyarados

I've always found the Red Gyarados mini-saga to be one fot he high points in Johto, indeed the point where the Pokemon series' quality really started to rise again. Doctor Sebastian and Tyson were far more menacing villains than Butch and Cassidy and even Dr. Namba and the introduction of Lance made things even better.

As for Lance's appearence, I think he was cool enough, though I can't say what color his hair was as I'm a bad judge of that (for years I thought my mom's hair was black when it was really just dark brown). If anything he shows you don't have to be a tough-looking/sounding arrogant guy to be one of the most powerful masters on the planet, I like how Brock referred to him as "that invincible Dragon trainer," if I recall right. Indeed, his humbleness is to be admired, as is his knowledge of his own abilities. I love the scene where Tyson challenges him and Lance replies calmly that it is highly unlikely Tyson will win. Lance's power being on a whole other level compared to most trainers is shown well, as was Prima's, as his single Dragonite easily defeats two strong Fearow then goes on to defeat the red Gyarados, blocking Hyper Beams with mere Thunder Wave attacks. That being said he did have some corny lines.

The suffering of the red Gyarados and Ash's sympathy for it were also shown well, and the inclusion of their first encounter with Pryce was nice foreshadowing. His encounter with Ash was unusually tense for Pokemon and Ash showed well the strength of his resolve.

Doctor Sebastian was a cold, calculating genius of a villain with a magnificient plan, and like all truly great anime villains he ends up not being captured. Though some people think the story simply forgot about him, it is made clear that he simply went ahead of Tyson to await the arrival of the red Gyarados for further "examination" (i.e likely dissection).

Jessie, James and Meowth meanwhile provided plenty of hilarity, especially with their attempt to call in "a hundred of your best men!"
