I'm not sure a GS remake is that unlikely at this point. After all, FrLg came in the middle of the third generation, which (obviously) was two generations after RBY. So the timeline seems to fit for a GS remake sometime in the near future.
I admit I had hoped they'd do the GS remake right after FrLg, but the DS seems like a better fit now that I think about it. Just as RBY Pokemon could be moved to GSC, FrLg Pokemon can be moved to this generation (including a possible remake). The day/night feature has been included on the DS (why they omitted it in RSEFrLg is beyond me), and it'll surely be able to handle the bigger map as well as improved graphics - after all, DP is massive.
So yeah, while I don't think the odds are necessarily favorable, I could definitely see it happening. As for names, they could go with a variation on the TCG set with Gold Sky and Silver Sea (in whatever word order they prefer).
The problem with doing the words in the same manner as FireRed/LeafGreen, particularly with the color coming after the descriptor, is that Silver, at least, is a rather long word. Using my idea as an example, SkyGold doesn't look too bad, as there's only one letter of difference between the two. But SeaSilver is... ehh... I dunno. I suppose it's not as bad with a four-letter word preceding Silver (MoonSilver), but it still seems a little off. But maybe whatever they choose, assuming they go ahead with this project, will grow on me. We'll see.
