Okay, I'm half asleep and haven't read it in depth, but I think you're doing fine with it so far. I think the not-naming thing can work really well if you're going for a particular angle with it. Is there a deeper significance to the technique or are you just generally experimenting with not naming the character?

In any case, it reads fine without a name being attached.

Also, have you read "Contest" by Matthew Reilly? The theme of this fic reminds me a lot of that book, though I haven't actually read it, just been told about it. Was it inspiration?

I kept him nameless because the selection for "contestants" in the Deathmatch would appear to be random. The Participant could have been anyone.

Haven't read it either (haven't heard of it either lol). Believe it or not, the first chapter of Deathmatch is based off of the only part that I remember of the absolutely weirdest dream I think I've ever had, (and that's saying a lot). That and I play way too much TF2 these days.

    et voila, new story

Okay, then it certainly works; for me, anyway.

That sounds like it must've been a very freaky dream indeed. I love having weird dreams that inspire me, but I find I never remember my dreams when I don't get enough sleep. It's like I need a good 7-8 hours sleep before I can have a really vivid dream. I'm sure there's a scientific reason behind it. And now I'm completely rambling ... my bad. ^_^

    Keep it up, dude.

PS. What is this TF2 you speak of?

Only the best multiplayer PC game ever

I DO know it after all! I mean, I've never played it, but I think I had a brief conversation with Blade in Misc about the Sniper in that game being an Aussie or summat.

Looks like a good game for pacifists. Hehehe ... I'm not much of a gamer. Can see how TF2 would be addictive though, man.
