Isn't that how the Trade tower works anyway? Pokemon are only given as gifts when a tree is open, and that's only for 4 months (2 in summer, 2 in winter), for the other 8 months you have to either buy or trade for the pokemon. The point of eggs is that you run the risk of getting something you don't want or already have. That's why it's only 1 point more to buy a specific pokemon in the tower. If you don't like what comes out of the egg, nothing is stopping you from trading or selling it.

Yeah, but noone does that. The new trading tower was up for over 6 months before it saw use. The old one saw about as much use. Eggs get slightly more use, but either everyone gets exactly what they want, or everyone forgets about the trade tower. I'm gonna guess the latter, based on the laws of probability.

I had considered this previously with an earlier sketch. The plates would be made of fire when excited and the thagomizer would be funky looking. However, going with your suggestion of seeing a Stego-Poke with Chlorophyll because of the various proposed uses for the plates as a use for thermoregulation, it made more sense for the plates to be solid permanent features rather than flame in origin (plus it seemed too much like I was taking from the Cyndaquil evo lines). It's also the Stego's most distinctive feature, like Pachy's Skull, or Raptor's sneer, or even Spino's spine. Having it be a temporary structure seemed to... be a waste and didn't fit with it having Chlorophyll.

Besides, what's wrong with it being a branching evo Rock-Fire?

Problem is Charles, almost all of the threads in the Archive are from the OLD ASB, the one with Yen and Sig Moves that became null and void when ASB was reset in April 2004. The threads about it restarting are on page 2 of the archive, so if you've started from page 22, then you've wasted a lot of your time, as these pokemon do not exist anymore.

Never considered items before. I've wondered what ASB might be like with hold items, but not regular ones.

Really, though, since so many battles these days ban non-damaging healing moves... and that's exactly what so many items do... I doubt this idea would gain steam, right?

I think it's a matter of what Items we allow. Since some Items double as moves (Macho Brace-Endure) and others boost Type damage, I really don't think we Ref's need more headaches...

Well... I can't see how it fits into the anime or game anywhere, but then again, neither does the points system... But, if people really wanted to, it could be possible to randomly select a couple of higher evolution pokemon and have people bid for it. Silent auction and the like. Alternatively, pokemon packages of some sort. I don't think it's that great of an idea, but if the idea of auctions is popular, then, here is a way to do it. You just need to make sure that the things that are on auction are worth more than 2 points...

Not to burst your bubble thar Charles, but I still don't see thePOINT. Why on earth would we need something like this? If it's a way to obtain ways to get some Gen V PKMN, then I'd kinda like to see another Saf Zone Sponsored hunt for some item we could redeem later (like maybe black and white coins?) or something else for when the games hit NA. This Black Market idea is almost like a second version of the Approval Tower.

Anyway, on the subject of the little caterpillar Pokemon whose image Charles posted... isn't that the most adorable Bug-type you've ever seen? Or Grass-type? Or anything? I'm just disappointed that it had to be Bug/Grass (what else could it be?) since that's such an ill-conceived type combination.

Ya know, I just realized something as I got outta the shower (making tacos for ungrateful folks is sweaty work), thinking about the Issu Starters in Gen V.

I was thinking of my MSN Status "... Fuckin Pig" and I thought about why, of all things, they would pick a pig for a Fire Type Starter. The previous Gens had at least a bit of sense to them (Charmander = Salamander -> Dragon, Cyndaquil = echidna-ish -> flaming badger, Torchic = warm chick -> any of several Flaming rooster influences, and Chimchar = a chimp that flings... well you know... -> Fighting Monkey God). So some of them have some vague reasoning behind them.

So why a Pig? Why a Saddleback Pig of all animals to make into a Fire-Type? When I thought about it a bit, it clicked. The final Stage of the Gen V Fire starter has to be the Hell Pig.

I kinda caught the idea when thinking about Blade's Fire Pig PKMN evo line he has on his DevArt profile (which looks pretty cool, though the Final one should have the rock armor look more like samurai armor around his shoulders and head, I think that'd be awesome), and thought of the Final evo and then it came back to me, The HELL PIG! That's the Issu starter's Final Evo!

The Problem with Paras is one of my favourite anime episodes because it shows Paras as they are... shitty. My only flaw with it would have to be the incredibly unrealistic ending (ie. depicting a Parasect that doesn't suck horse balls), but hey, can't be too picky.

Don't get yer panties all in a bunch there, oh keeper of the short temper. I was being serious. Looking at the final evo's face and armor, it reminded me of a samurai. Partly because the tusks on the head looked more like the fangs for Oni, which samurai sometimes wore over their face to strike fear into their opponents, and the armor made me think 'samurai' when I saw it.
