Best Battles?

I really like how the battles are done in the anime and manga. Even if the story isn't always the best, the battles in the anime/manga always add a new layer of depth unachievable in Pokemon's RPG format.


One of my favorite battles was between Ash and Jackson in the Johto League episode, "Tie One On!" The sheer badassery of the superfast shiny Magneton against Ash's team and the fact that Magneton is tied for the spot of my favorite Pokemon made me enjoy watching it.

Ash vs. Janette in the Indigo League. Fast paced, action packed, with a great finish. I loved Janette's Bellsprout.

The three episode 6 on 6 battle between Ash and Paul in the Sinnoh League. That was a very satisfying action packed conclusion to a four year spanning rival arc.
League battles in general are pretty damn amazing, as well as ones with gym leaders. Apart from Tobias. Screw that legendary hax bastard.

Call me crazy, but I liked those Kanto battles where Misty's Psyduck appears and saves the day. Ninja-Poke Showdown, the Farfetch'd episode and Princess VS Princess of course.

But if you say Ash vs Janette was awesome then it was. I think I saw that episode only once and my attention was attracted by Janette's kimono.

I... I honest-to-God cannot put into words just how much I agree with this or how happy I am that someone else shares my feelings on BOTH of these iconic, classic battles...

Was the Paul one with the Drapion and Toxic Spikes shenanigans?

Partly about Drapion and Toxic Spikes, yes, mostly about Infernape going batshit insane and knocking out Electivire. And the Dragonite battle was definitely good, it had so many moves to make it seem unstoppable. Another Dragonite has recently been introduced to the anime that has a similar thing going for it.

There's also another awesome battle that was recently in the anime, but it hasn't been dubbed yet, so I can't say anything. Drat.
