New Pokemon! I totally want that panda to turn into a grass type with a bamboo fighting cane :3 Hmm, I want to draw that now haha
I like the panda and the yak! They're pretty neat. I'm indifferent to the bird, but I'm usually indifferent to the common birds of each Generation. The less said about the black/yellow thing the better. Serebii reports it's Electric/Normal. I wish the design were as interesting as the typing.
Seems like you can select the appearance of the protagonist! Hooray!

Yeah, I don't really like the lizard thing :/ Looks a lot like Mawile! I just hope it evolves into something good. As for the whole customisation thing, it's cool, but there should be more than hair and skin colour in it! I'd really want to change the clothes and stuff, I seriously have no idea why the female players are always in shorts/skirts? Even the hair and skin colour it pretty limited too, skin and hair should have been independent from each other and had more variety. There isn't much there for non-white players, and it'd be cool if I could give the girl red hair...
As for the Pokes, I really like the goat/yak too, although the lizard thing is pretty lame. The bird's cute, I hope it gets a little more interesting with evolution though!

I wonder if it's just the goat that can be ridden? It would be neat if that were an HM move that could be learned by a bunch of different Pokemon!
(Spoiler:) just remembering now i had a dream where i was buying a 3ds and they all cost $999 and i was mad
THAT WOULD BE AWESOME! I think it will be, it'd be pretty stupid to have just one Pokemon you can ride around on. Since it has its own sprite to be ridden on, I wonder if we'll finally be able to see the Pokemon we're surfing on properly? I want to see how they'd handle the really big and really small Pokemon using that move, imagine riding around on a kyogre, rhydon or goldeen xD
I also really want to see an optional flying minigame or an area that involves flying around on one of your Pokemon, that would be SO FREAKING COOL
Pokemon X and Y: Mistys Of Pandaria
ugh. Sorry, I've been really lazy and I'll post moves (and hopefully in SZ as well) tomorrow. Just to let ya guys know in case you already hate me for my lack of posting xD
Ahhhh, this is great! <3
Oslo, I just humiliated myself. I thought the Crobat one was a new Pokemon and asked a younger friend of mine. X0
...Stop.
I just read that Butterfree is coming back.

I've heard of people staying awake 24/7 but it apparently required them to eat all the time
Yeah i stayed up for a solid two weeks last summer, got really sick and a little insane, and slept for 4 days straight after, but like Ash said with the eating thing, i ate alot so i was alright. Had alot of work to do... like alot...

I didn't sleep the two weeks before my Master's thesis defence last summer. I left it til the last minute and it nearly killed me. D: I just stayed up night after night in my parents' farmhouse writing about Irish poetry / listening to the coyotes outside / losing my mind.
wow you guys either have a world record or are exaggerating, can't decide which
longest I was up is 1.5 days, stayed the night at a lock in and crashed on the couch noon the next day
I assumed DL meant that he didn't have a structured sleep pattern for four months and just subsisted off occasional naps.
If we're talking strict, 100% no sleep... the longest I've gone is forty hours.
This. I passed out in 2nd period for 40 minutes every day-and I would not sleep at any other time, but I was tired as crap. It was a solid block of time in which this happened. Damn me and learning the internet in 4 months.
As for the SZ Stuff. Yes , it only takes 50 posts before you should reach a legendary. I said to make it an adventure, but everyone turned their quests into epics. This is fine, but it's not totally unheard of to keep a quest shorter than 125 posts to expedite the process, if the story can feasibly be done in that time. Also, Pokemon can get away (sorry Ay. XD) SO its never a sure bet.
As for the Speed Zone, no one has given it a try, and I would really like to test drive it some more with a real participant, because it would really go like how the SZ started. You'd see your Pokemon within the first one or two posts, and then it would dash, and you you have to make sure you picked the right directions and corner it before trying to catch it. I think it would go ALOT faster if someone was willing to try it.
...Not to mention you could ask someone to breed one of their Pokemon so you can get the baby form of the Pokemon for a priceI'm sure anyone with a large team may have the Pokemon evo line you want (unless it doesn't breed). May even get a move you weren't expectin' on it!

I like not being able to just buy pokemon. It was far too easy to spend two points on a pokemon and never use it, now to get a pokemon you have to earn it, just like you would in the anime, which is ultimately the entire point. It's easy enough to get one. The Speed Zone in the Safari Zone means you could get the pokemon you want in no time at all.
I'm kind of torn about that. I like that we're not just doling out Pokemon for two points apiece because that's way too easy. That said, even the Speed Zone still takes about fifteen rounds to get a basic Pokemon. A lot of Zones get updated once a week, some less frequently than that. So if you're trying to catch three Pokemon at fifteen rounds per Pokemon, you're looking at potentially spending a year in the Zone. For three Pokemon.
I already have a full team, so I'm not personally bothered, but we've kind of engineered a system where it's hard for newbies to build the kind of squad they want. Eggs and Trees are great but not reliable for particular Pogeys.
On that note, I'm curious how people feel about Legend quests. Several of the current Legend quests are hitting the one year mark or will be soon. I'm sensing that a lot of the refs are enjoying putting together really long, really involved SZ quests, but they're starting to drag because reffing more than once a week just isn't feasible for most people, which is fair. (This isn't me taking a sly dig at the quest RL is reffing for me, btw—he just picked it up and it's going along at a solid pace, so I'm happy with my situation.) I guess the question is, how long do you guys feel these quests should take? Are one year quests just inevitable nowadays? Should we encourage refs to start winding things down as the one year mark approaches even if the quest isn't necessarily the epic 200 Round behemoth the ref maybe imagined?
Sorry for all that babbling. :U Just thinking about stuff. I don't think there's anything wrong with the Safari Zone but maybe it's good to review the way things are going anyway?

That's a god point, when you've got forty or fifty pokemon and points a plenty to spend, it's hard to think about the new members with only four. Getting arou d this.. we could offer a free Safari one trip to newbies, or allow them three slots to buy pokemon directly through the tower before the option is taken away?
The rules state that you have to go 100 rounds before meeting a legendary. I fucked that up straight away when I let DarkestLight see Victini, but I suppose it wasn't an actual encounter. This in itself can be quite a high task to achieve, getting enough of a storyline behind it before even finding the legendary, and then having to play out another storyline after finding it. That's what makes the quest take so long, IMO. I've tried to cut back on the length of the quest with yours Oslo, as the Cliff Notes Cynder sent me would have resulted in you wandering with no idea where to go.On that note, I'm curious how people feel about Legend quests. Safari Zone has come on a long way from how it started.Sorry for all that babbling. :U Just thinking about stuff. I don't think there's anything wrong with the Safari Zone but maybe it's good to review the way things are going anyway?
You're in a long corridor, a Rattata is playing on the floor. There are two doors. What do you do?
It may be time to take another look at it subjectively, and see if there are some things that can be changed, improved on, etc.
lololol, so true. It's funny to think that, not too long ago, the SZ was a colossal clusterfuck contained to one thread. For the entire thing. /nostalgia
Also, I think the minimum number of rounds before encountering a Legend is 50? So says the "Legend Protocol" post, anyway.
Need to get me a legendary >.> Which legendaries are available so I know what I'm able to get on my next trip
with the whole pokemon quests I think it might be good to allow a legend quest and a normal poke quest at the same time, because as you said sz takes awhile to get updated and I'd kind of like to get a ditto on my team soon
The problem with allowing two quests at the same time is it would double the refs' workload and the adventures would therefore take twice as long to update, so it wouldn't really expedite anything.
Maybe to catch new Pokemon you could initiate a battle with it? For example, if you wanted to catch a Ponyta, you could go to a thread (Saf zone, a thread for that purpose, whatever) and state that you want to catch one, and a ref would take it up and basically it'd be a one on one of ref (using the Ponyta) vs. trainer, and if they manage to defeat the Poke, they can catch it? Seems simpler and less time consuming than a full on zone quest for just 1 first stage Pokemon. Obviously there would be a fee, probably similar to the Saf zone's Poke Balls because otherwise that would be redundant, and the higher level balls could make the amount of HP the poke starts with lower or something. Then the Saf Zone could be reserved for higher stage Pokemon and legends, which takes the stress off saf zone refs taking really long quests and frees up more space for others to take them if they want to grab a legend or something.
But isn't that still the point of doing "Speed Zones" though?
I'm not sure what to really think about the Safari Zone.
Some refs (like Grey for example) are extremely busy with IRL stuff that you can't blame them about lack of updates. Then there are the very dedicated like Os, RL and DL that can post once a day or every 2-3 days in between, which means that certain peoples' quests get done super fast. While you would like to get one those refs that can update often, they're often the ones that end up being the most busy since they take on a bunch of adventures at the same time and eventually get burnt out after a while.
Personally, I still have one other Legendary that I am absolutely dying to get (even more so than Zekrom) before someone else does, but if I'm not able to, its tough luck on my part
EDIT: The grammar in this was atrocious and just had to be edited properly. Pretty sure I was half-dozing when I typed this whole thing out.
